Luckily we did those before the rare beers and whales got out of hand  There were some real gems and others that were quite disappointing but definitely 2 fun ass tastings with some very generous buddies.

This is what happens when a dozen people from across the country convene for Philly Beer Week:

My personal favorite was BT, although it would be been better with some age (it was the most recent batch). The 09' dark lord was way past its prime, strong soy/teriyaki flavor. 11' was not much better. 10' was clearly the best of the dark lords. I quite liked the Schlafly RIS, too. Especially for the price. Kate was also very good, but i've been spoiled with beers like BCBS and prefer some barrel character in a RIS.

I don't have a camera, so I don't take pics... Where's Weatherdog, dvelcich, and Imperialking when we need them?!

Dvelcich takes glamour shots of each bottle... It gets pretty sexy...

Oh, by the way-- that bottle of Cerise was only opened because we were waiting on the rest of the tasters to arrive... We shouldn't have included it in the lineup pic!

I don't know how I feel about this... it's so epic, but gotta wonder at what point did all your taste buds fail on you that practically nullified whatever sour it was you were drinking from then on. The more amazing I think it is, the more tragic it gets.

Took about 15 hours. Palate fatigue doesn't apply if you do things properly. Thanks for the snark though.

15 hrs?? Let's see.. that's about 4 sours an hour... I guess that's enough to avoid the fatigue. Still, 50+ sours in one day... sour whales no less.

Don't get me wrong, that's an epic event you had there. I would have loved to have been there for the experience, fatigue or not. My comment might've come across as snarky because.. well, because it was an epic tasting that I will prob not ever get to experience and I hate you. :stuck_out_tongue:

It may have been more like 4 every 50 minutes or so, but yeah, generally there was quite a bit of time between beers, along with miscellaneous palate cleansers.

Don't underestimate what a group of 10 beer nerds can put together over the course of a year! :grinning:
