I'm drinking this tonight, and definitely like (but don't love) it. The honey is definitely there, and I like it, but I'm not as big a bourbon fan as most of you guys are and I notice the bourbon a lot more than the honey.



And I am becoming less and less a fan of well-waxed bottles. I definitely feel like I earned my beer.

Beer (mix ratings) has a small distro, didn't get a chance to try it.

I dropped the 1st bottle of the BBQ sauce, too bad the 5 second rule couldn't be applied, I was tempted with the delicious aroma.

 

Speaking of well-waxed bottles... about 2 months ago I split the griffin claw bourbon imperial pumpkin that @I_BYE_MI_BEER sent me with a few buddies (absolutely LOVED that beer... wish I could get more!), and that was so well waxed it legitimately took us a solid 5 minutes or so to open it. Definitely makes you feel like you earned it, haha

LOL - It's like crab legs, part of what makes them so good is the sweat you had to work up to dig out like two ounces of meat...

You really shouldn't get much honey in beers brewed with honey (so I've never actually known why they put it on the label). You'll get a bit, but it's main purpose really is to dry out the beer a bit (since honey completely ferments and malt doesn't).

Sad that you didn't like it as much as I hoped you would. While it certainly has a barrel flavor to it, I don't think its as over-the-top as some. But hey, its all about learning what we like and don't like, so hopefully you at least are glad to have tried it

Thick wax is pretty annoying. There needs to be some middle ground between what New Glarus does (which is really, really thin) and what a lot of breweries are doing this day. I opened a Cinnamon Roll'd Wake-n-Bake last week (which are dipped in thick wax and then the very top dipped in this wax again) that I basically dismantled the cap as I couldn't get the wax off.

 

I have now shipped to my target, who should expect his package on Wednesday. I don't think he knows I am his sender, so let's try a clue that should make this pretty obvious: my target LICC'ed me in the past.

 

That narrows it down to like 2 or 3 of us, eh?
