I considered this, but I figured that if I trademarked the hyphen, then we'd be good to go...

Maybe we should add "-as-long-as-its-vaguely-defensible-as-local" to the tag just to be safe.

I'm sorry I have been so MIA. I moved into a new position in December, and it's thrown me for a whirlwind and I have been so so busy. Please don't hate me!

Also thanks everyone for their replies, I will be shipping Monday =) I put a pretty good box together so I hope you are happy with it!

 

Just booked a business trip to Philly on February 10th-12th. Anyone close enough to meet up at Tired Hands on Tuesday or Wednesday night? Other than Tired Hands, anywhere close I should look to go?

 

*Update to those who have asked about Jason's wife.
She is in stable condition after having multiple surgeries yesterday. She will have a long road to recovery. Jason seems in pretty good spirits, all things considered.

In this thread I'm the only Philly guy so I hope you like my advice Food wise make sure you get a good cheesesteak, and that does not mean Pat's or Geno's, I'll make some suggestions once I know the next two things: Where in the city are you staying? Will you have a car? It's very much a driving town if you want to go anywhere outside of 'downtown'.

Meh. Yup to cheesesteak. All of those are excellent questions, but I think its a better public transportation town than people give it credit for.

 

Pretty sure I'll be staying at the Marriott Courtyard on Juniper street. And yes, I will definitely have a rental car while I'm in town. So a little traveling will not be a problem to access better things

 

I might be able to make it down there to meet up perhaps that Tuesday but I'd have to play it by ear as my schedule is incredibly unforgiving at times. Keep me posted.

 

Within the city I agree, and getting into/out of the city, regional rail is great. But if you leave downtown on regional rail, then what? If someone isn't picking you up you're going to spend a lot of time at a train station.

And whatever, you live in Jersey! The fact that you're probably closer to City Hall than I am isn't really the point

 

I'm pretty sure, when she's somewhere that's available to have flowers, balloons, get well cards, etc we put a hurting on her porch!

 

Ok, so with a car you've got lots of options. Tired Hands is definitely at the top of the list, and Forest & Main is another great option (if you do Forest & Main on Wednesday is the best chance of us meeting up, besides at my house). There are a handful of other really good brewpubs in the area, so if that's what you're after I'll give you some more suggestions.

Non-brewpub you'll want to make sure you go to Monk's Cafe, there and Theresa's Cafe (in Wayne, a decent ride out of the city but only 10 minutes from Tired Hands) are the only two places you can reliably find Cantillon (for onsite only) and besides that they're both incredible beer bars. Eulogy also deserves mention among Belgian bars but isn't as high-end.

Bottle shops you'll want to go out to Capone's in Norristown (also somewhere I could meet you), and always a good taplist; there are other good bottle shops (including the one a block from Tired Hands) and great taplists around as well, again if that's what you're after let me know.

Even if I got out of my business trip Monday into Tuesday (to Boston so I won't be home until later), February 10th is my son's 4th birthday, so I still wouldn't be bottle sharing.
