That seems to be pretty fair especially if you both are getting what you want. Agree that you may be able to squeeze a little more out of a backyard rye, but when you factor in the conveinence of IP trades and the fact that you're not an asshole I'd say the deal is fine. I've sent a JK fruited sour for an Abraxas in the past and while I know that I could have probably gotten more for it it's someone that I trade with on a semi regular basis so it wasn't a big deal.

In the battle of the peppered stouts of the NON BA variety

    1. Mexican Cake
    2. Bomb!
    3. Huna
    4. Abraxas

The abraxas I had however was a year old and I've had the other 3 fresh so that definitely plays a factor.

    For BA Peppered stouts

    1. DBH
    2. BA Abraxas
    3. Cali Brandy Huna
    4. Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Mayan Mocha Stout
    5. Pirate Bomb

    Haven't had the cakes yet.

Just an FYI, we will be getting cans. Talked to a shop owner today and he confirmed it (at least it shows on his invoice that he will be getting them in)

Interesting. Here's my ranking for (relatively) fresh bottles:

    Non-BA
    1. Abraxas
    2. Huna
    3. Mexican Cake
    4. Bomb!
    5. Xocoveza
    6. Bible Belt
    7. Christmas Bomb!

    Barrel-Aged offerings
    1. BA Abraxas
    2. DB Huna
    3. BA Cakes (I've had all but Apple Brandy; they all fall about the same for me)
    4. Pirate Bomb!
    5. Fred's Blend

That's a good list and totally fair.. by the time I had BA Abraxas it had gotten a little flat as I was late for the tasting. Xocoveza was very good and I would agree with your ranking of it ahead of Xmas bomb and tied if not a ahead of BB.

DBH was a top 5 BA stout for me last year and easily in my top 10 ever. I've been lucky enough to have it a few times now and from fresh to just a couple of months ago it hasn't lost a beat.

Also a little jealous that you've been able to try Fred's Blend and it has eluded me thus far.

DB and Bourbon Cake were both really awesome, interestingly for very different reason; DB I thought had an incredible aroma but the spices were very muted, while I found the Bourbon version to have much less outstanding an aroma (and barrel character, though it was definitely present) but the spices were back like the non-BA Mexican Cake I'd had. Tequila Cake I wasn't terribly impressed by but I had it immediately after the other two so they might have ran into each other a bit by then.

I liked both DB and Bourbon Cake better than DBH, though DBH was later in the day (at 2.0) than the other two, so that may play a factor if my palette was muted a bit by that point.

Good luck tracking those down, and I'll take this opportunity to again thank the attendees of 2.0 for really bringing out the big guns (and providing some great handshakes), what a hell of a great time that was.

I have the bottles just waiting for a Patriots Super Bowl win srs. If they win on February 1st I told my friends that we would be celebrating by opening the entire 14 set (Non-BA, Tequila, 4Roses, and DB)

All sorts of evidence to say that he is arrogant although it should be noted if the balls were in fact deflated before the start of the game they would have been refilled as they are all tested at half time. From that point forward no one on either teams personnel would touch the balls. Therefore a reading of under inflation at the end of the game shouldn't actually have any bearing on the Patriots.

Unbiased perspective. If some how they are able to prove the BB somehow did doctor the balls in anyway he should be suspended for the super bowl absolutely. However you can't blame the Patriots players themselves as they would have had nothing to do with it. Also considering the final score was 45-7 no one including the Colts players honestly believe that it had a factor in the game. Regardless again if it is proven that this was done intentionally BB should definitely pay the consequences but for the entire team to pay those consequences is absolutely ludicrous

thanks for all the feedback family. from what it sounds, its pretty fair. we are both going to add in a bit (nothing nailed down at all), so im sure if its better on either side, the add ins will more than make up for it.

    @LehighAce06 that was pretty funny.

    @Houser?

I'm just bustin balls (no pun intended) ... I'm definitely of the school of thought that I'll wait to see what the NFL's investigation says before passing judgement; all of the crucifying seems pretty premature to me. Not at all a fan of BB, but I've read conflicting reports of whether what happened during Spygate gave any remote competitive advantage, and while there would be a distinct competitive advantage to deflated balls, I tend to agree that the outcome of that particular game would likely not have changed.

What bothers me most is the arrogance and lack of sportsmanship that goes into BB doing things like that, and that he thinks he'll get away with this shit, deserved though it may be since who knows what he might have actually gotten away with that no one knows about (all that with the understanding that this assumes he in fact is guilty).

Some people actually say the deflated balls could be a disadvantage depending on who you ask (former NFL players). with Spygate the issue wasn't that he was doing it in the beginning. Previously everyone was allowed to do it, then the league sent out a memo saying that they were no longer allowing it. Fast forward 2 months and BB got caught still doing it. It wasn't necessarily that he got an advantage more than he directly disobeyed the monster that is the NFL.

In all seriousness the only entity with more power in the USA outside of the actual government is the NFL and Roger Goodell. It's scary to think about but in all actuality it is true.

That actually makes sense; the sheer amount of dollars that go into the thing, tickets, tv deals, commercials, endorsements, etc etc, they've got a lot of weight to throw around.
