Even GI Clybourn has bottles for less than that. It's not like Juliet is hard to find around Chicago right now. It's gathering dust on a lot of shelves.

This really has to be the weirdest/crappiest release I can think of. It's long since off the shelves on the west coast... hell, it's long since off the shelves in Chicago, and yet the suburban release is delayed and delayed and delayed? Something fishy?

The real bummer about it, IMO, is that if it released all through the region at the same-ish time, people wouldn't be able to horde as much. Now I'm sure there are folks who got a case in Chicago and will get a case in the subbies, etc. Lame.

I know a couple places with Juliet for $20, and a place with a ton of Lolita (or whatever the Raspberry one is) but it seemed like it sold out instantaneously in a lot of areas. Strange.

It sold out instantaneously back when it was released in... March, or something. I'm not sure if there was a second wave or something, but it's been fairly easy to find as of late. There were bottles just sitting on the shelf of the Lincoln Park Binny's when I was at GI Vintage kickoff, and I know several stores that have multiple cases. Most seem to be asking ~$20, but I've seen as low as $15.

Juliet is a pass at $20 and up for me (if I didn't have a spare bottle or two, it might not be) and would be worth picking up again at $15. It's funny to think about the price tipping point for a beer. Juliet is particularly valuable for me though, because it makes a great counterpoint for heavy stouts or bitter IPAs when you're doing a multi-course meat-grilling extravaganza. And baseball and such grilling events are the only reasons I find summer tolerable.

Parabola goes from $14.99-20.00 on average, right? How much do you guys suspect we'll be paying in the suburbs, since hype mountain and delay madness have occurred? I'll be SHOCKED if it's less than $19.99. I'd be less shocked if it simply never arrives.

I recently found a place with Juliet for $15. I bought three more for cellaring since most places have been charging about $20. I thought this year's edition was exceptional. There were also two cases worth of 2011 Lolita on the shelf for $21.99 which I passed on. Lolita was selling for $13 earlier last year at most places. I'd like a couple more bottles of Lolita for cellaring as well, but not for $22. Lolita isn't even as good as Juliet, in my opinion.

I believe GI increased the price of Juliet this time around. Even Binny's LP (which TapeDeck mentioned) had tons of it a couple of weeks ago at $19.99/bottle. Lolita was $15.99 (I believe). And they usually have some of the better prices. I found the first distribution of 2012 Juliet in stores for $15, and then saw the new bottles at the same place for $20.

However, I just had a friend in the NW burbs pick up a case of Juliet at $15 each. So I'm not sure where the markup is coming from.

There was no price increase. If you saw it for less, the store was was taking a loss or didnt look at their invoice carefully enough.

gotcha. thanks for clarification. $26.99 is still overboard.
