    I took my 5 year Dark Lord vertical to Boston this past weekend to share with everyone at my friend's bachelor party. Here are some pictures and notes I took. I know many have done this before, so if you've done the same one or similar, share your thoughts.

    Here were my rankings in order of Best to Worst:

    1. 2010
    2. 2008
    3. 2011
    4. 2009
    5. 2012

    Very brief notes on each and what was different I picked up on:

    2008 - viscous, dry, toasty, huge dark fruits
    2009 - still very sweet, viscous body like the 2008
    2010 - hint of sweetness but extremely well balanced, dark chocolate, dark fruits
    2011 - little to no sweetness, evident black pepper, "veggie" taste from last year is gone
    2012 - way too sweet, confirms fresh Dark Lord does in fact suck

    So, there you go. Everyone agreed 2012 was the worst of the bunch, super sweet which it seems happens with every fresh bottle of Dark Lord I've had (10,11,12). My bottle of 2009 strangely didn't seem to die down on the sweetness. It was almost on par with the 2012, but not quite so. Anyway, great experience and I'm glad I shared it with a great group.

    06 LP kriek, bourbon hunahpus, fantasia, the Jaspers, BA wee heavy, veritas 10, whiskey hunahpus, 05 fou foune, apple brandy hunahpus, JJ blauw, black note, 97 kriek, chocolate rain, batch 2 cuvee de castleton.

    Apple brandy hunahpus and Blauw were standouts for me, both amazing, thanks Chad!

    We didn't...we drank about 6 of them and drain-poured the rest. Have you ever been to a tasting before? :astonished: There were about 14 of us, including significant others.

    Dude, you're going to f'n love the Extraneous Cassis...it's amazing stuff! Super-jammy and rich!

    Oh, I've had it before....opened a bottle maybe a year and a half ago and it was probably the best Kuhnhenn beer that I've ever had (sorry, 2009 BBBW). More curious about the state that it's in now.

    Scoping your review on the bottle right now (Whoops! Should've checked there first).

    Haha yeah, we came prepared! This was the 2nd bottle I've had and after the 1st one, I knew a bowl would be needed to keep all the contents. :grinning:

    Seriously, this looks like a great time. Saw your FB group pics, too. Thanks for sharing the experience. I'll post pics of me and my tasting group (read: me) drinking TX's finest (read: Lone Star) later.

    But seriously, thanks for sharing. Great idea having a pro capture the event.
