Sucreversary had DD tix, but it looks like they'll have more to offer the DDs this time. One small plate of BBQ for $20 at Sucreversary was incredibly weak.

This is going to be crazy. Hoarders get additional pours of the BA stuff. So even if we go conservative and give us 6 extra tastes, thats 20 freakin tastes plus the session beers.

I'm going to be so twisted I need to DD's!

I'm gonna guess it will be more like 2 or 3 Hoarders beers.

I am planning to buy a ticket, but it looks like I will be heading there by myself. It would be great to meet up with some people there - any suggestions for the best time? Late afternoon on Saturday?

I'm sure any time you decide, there will be others who are more than happy to shoot the breeze with you about beer.

Maybe this was covered somewhere and I missed it, but are they doing the anniversary beer (and variants) this year? And if so, is it one of the listed beers and I just don't know how to translate it from French?

Following their theme of traditional anniversary gifts (in French) they would be looking at wool or copper...

Seems like Chronology has taken the place of that as far as I can tell

I was told that the regular releases are not listed on our lists anymore. I would assume this means they aren't doing a ton of variants as they don't sell as well.

Cracked one open tonight. Nice spice and nose but not the best beer ever. I'd give a 3.5-4/5.

I'm sure they're still doing an anniversary beer.

It's not listed on the schedule because it's a national release, and they are likely just doing a single bourbon barrel version. Fine with me.

That makes sense. In prior years they have always listed "everything", so wasn't sure if they made a change this year, but sounds like they did.

I am hopeful they still do some variants. Maybe I am in the minority, but I found the Port, Madeira and Brandy variants to be bright spots amongst the various Society releases over the past couple years (which were otherwise less than stellar, IMO). I honestly have no sense how they have sold but I suspect that the high number of variants spread the purchases out a bit, and they might get better volume if they kept it to just a couple variants and keep the allotments low!

I second this. Probably looking at Cuivre coming out soon.

Care to elaborate on this at all? Im trying to decide whether to buy a single bottle or multiples. I understand you think the spice and nose is "nice" but what makes it "not the best"? Thin, not roasty, too bitter, sweet, thin, jelly, donuts, cake, hot dogs? Details mang, give me the deets!

Could you compare it to VaS w/ mole, if you got a chance to drink that? Granted I already bought 4 bottles, so I am stuck either way.

Or maybe a comparison to Mexican Cake, Hunah, etc. ? I'm not a spicy beer guy either but I figure I could trade a few at least.

Ha, anything else I could compare it to?

Honestly it was a super solid stout before you did anything to it. Great mouth feel and wasn't thin at all. Great malty and roasted flavors through out. The chocolate came through a little and the mole spices were for sure present. I thought it tasted pretty close to a traditional mole. I couldn't kill a whole bottle last night but I'll finish it tonight.

That being said, if you like mole, max that bitch out! If you take away the spice, the stout is extremely good and so you have a great base to work with. The only factor is how much you like the mole spices.

Is it as heavy on the spices as Mole Smoking Wood?
