Why wouldn't you believe some stranger on the internet??? I'm totally trustworthy! I just had a flight with Wineification, Beffuddlement and Mango Hottenroth. And also, I date Scarlett Johansson...

Anyone interested in trading their Freckles for my Mash and grinds?

You guys will be able to buy more bottles of freckle. Don't worry. Its getting local distro which means it will be in the tasting room.

Glad I bought three Freckle but it lacked the flavor I was looking for.
Still a great beer, especially for the $ (I'm a HS member).
M&G on the other hand... Fantastic beer right there!
    Really want that Mango.

Mango is indeed in the tasting room. Just had one and it is indeed drinking super good. Not sure how long it will stay on tap considering they said the haul wasn't very large so if you're a new HS member this year, go to the tasting room now to get it while its still there.

Agreed with the above. Mango Hottenroth is akin to Bemango'd which is saying something. Lots of fruit, though not as tart, and nice berlinner follow through. Sad to only get a pair, but here is hoping they do a bunch more treatments and allow growlering again like last year.

Freckle and Or Xata in the fridge, will report back later.

Wow, the pour of Mango Hottenroth I got was a sulfur bomb on the nose and while the fruit showed through better on the palate, it was still pretty rough. I'm hoping bottles are closer to what you guys are describing. Wineification II is still drinking beautifully.

Just curious as freshman RS member who will often not max out, does the Bruery allow you to designate someone else to pick up part of your allocation? If not how could someone else "pick them up themselves"?

You can assign a trustee that is allowed to pick up allocations on your behalf. How most members get their beer since they live out of state.

Is your avatar a pic from the wine cellar in esco? Random question.

You can specify that you only want to pick up certain Order Numbers. I'm in LA and split my RS membership last year with someone in SD. I frequently left orders that my friend placed waiting at the fulfillment center when I picked up the rest of mine

Right, but doesn't that mean that they can pick up any order, verses a specific order? That's ok for family or friends, but if you want to help out a BA you have not met?

How does one do this? I understand that you can make someone a trustee. But how do to restrict their ability to pick up specific orders?

Also are their any restrictions on changing a trustee.

    Follow up time:

Freckle: This one was tough for me. Freckle is a robust stout with really earthy, hearty flavors from its Mole components. The beer it self started a bit over carbonated which detracts initially from the rich stout but is mitigated with some time on the table acclimating to temp. Roasty up front. Ancho, cocoa and vanilla dominate the flavor profile on the back end but finish up wanting. Upon announcement I had high hopes this beer might become the Huna // Mexican Cake competitor on the west coast but this beer (like most Bruery offerings) treks out on its own path. It is something new, different and tasty on its own merit, but isn't quite fair to compare to those stouts; apples & oranges and whatnot. I still hope to see some form of spicy, cinnamon stout (Huna killer :grinning: )at some point but that said Freckle paired with some authentic mexican offerings like carnitas and chile roja would make for a fantastic meal. All in all I think they took an exotic, though also local, flavor concept and did a bang up job with it. I think a Rye barrel or even deep charred oak barrel might add some of depth i was looking for to help push this one to the next level but I was pleased with this one.

Or Xata: This one is fairly close to last year's offering. To me the base blond ale seemed a little more hearty than batch 1 but the vanilla and cinnamon are still the stars of the show followed by creamy notes from the lactose and rice. Very likely we've been spoiled with Imperial Or Xata and/or Rice & Beans variants but this beer remains a nice detour from the standard Stout/Sour/IPA parade that most craft brewers push out regularly. My only negative note would be my bottle was a little under carbonated though that may very well be intentional for something seeking to imitate a horchata drink.

When you email the Bruery you can tell them the name of the person picking up specific orders and only those orders. I've done this several times from both sides of the fence without any issues. I'm a local and hardly ever have excess bottles sitting there for anyone to even try some shananigans. I also have high hopes that 99.9% of fellow BAs wouldn't try anything.

Drinking my first bottle of the new batch and your review is spot on. I think it actually would've benefited from being dialed back to the 5.5% - 6% ABV range and going absolutely crushable (especially as a seasonal rather than a one-off) rather than sitting in a no man's land of not imperial but not sessionable, but it's still very drinkable in its current state. Carbonation is definitely on the low side, but not as bad as something like BA Monster's Park. I really hope they keep his as a part of their yearly portfolio, especially at the price.

Edit: Also, everyone saying "last year's batch" is off by a year - the original was a 2013 beer, not 2014.

Is this "BA Monster's Park" a 2015 euphemism for dead flat?
