I have had one or two experimental ones that were ok. And about 10 years ago their Hefe was really good.....it's just ok now. The wife likes their Water Gap Wheat so that and the improving food means we will be back. I have had much worse beer. And I usually get one of the Belgian Trappist bottles there anyway....and THAT is some good stuff!

Sounds like you're talking about Appalachian? If you are, it's pretty damn good root beer; I've had some of their beers in the past (not bad, just never great), and perhaps moving toward the NA side is the right move for them? Craft soda may not be the industry that craft beer is, but it seems to me to be a growth category.

Damn I always forget about the Trappist bottles they have, have to make a mental note on that one.

Yeah we're talking about Appalachian, I think they make some other soda's but yeah, they should probably expand that side of their business. I'm actually surprised more of the local breweries don't make Root Beer, I've ordered mix boxes for my son that have had stuff from Goose Island and Abita to name a few.

That's who I'm talking about. That is actually a root beer that I would love to see them make alcoholic I think it might give not your father's root beer a run for its money.

I wonder if the transition is that simple? I suppose for one thing it depends are you making a birch spiced beer (fermenting barley sugars, flavoring with root beer flavors) or a fermented root beer (fermenting the simple sugars of a root beer). Either way I agree, it tastes great.

@JNForsyth Abita's is one of my favorite root beers I've had; another example of a mediocre brewery making fantastic root beer... really makes me wonder what a top notch brewery could do with root beer...

Yeap, a brewery that has root beer is awesome. I probably buy more growlers of that than real beer...

All caught up on this thread, sorry for the lack of hints lately but I think we've got some time yet.
Hint #1 - Not shipping to anyone in the Locals BIF sorry dudes.
Hint #2 - Shipping to a different time zone.
Hint #3 - Just bought a ticket this morning for a beer release in March (that's not in my state) that happens to be a want of yours. So now you'll be getting an instant 2 year vertical.

Think I've narrowed my shipper to 23 senders already. Note for you, I love coffee, coconut, vanilla, and peanut butter adjuncts in my stouts, oh and bourbon barrels help to, but I'm happy with your recommendations. Wants are typically pretty damn current.

You'd think so, but half the people that have announced that fact, I had already eliminated (including @lateralusbeer).... It's been less helpful than you might guess.

That said, I'm probably doing better than most, down to 22.

For my target, like this if you like beers with chiles and vanilla. At a local brewery enjoying a very limited release and curious if I should grab you a bottle.

No matter how good i think i am keeping track of hints, i have never successfully even narrowed it down.

Sender: i use untappd to keep track- username on my profile. I like all stouts - not picky all. My whale might be your shelf turd.

Target: I haven't figured out if you are going to be easy or hard. You should give me some more info to help me out.
