Both Sidhe and Wabasha Brewing in St. Paul will probably be open by then.

I might be completely crazy, but I vaguely remember a newly opened brewery w a taproom that allowed folks to come in an trade ANY growler for a beer and not just a fill. Does anyone else remember this or has new fatherhood made me slip the last braincell I had working?

There was one, but I'll be darned if I can remember it!

Hopefully someone can, because I have a couple of spare growlers in the house I wouldn't mind getting rid of.

According to ZAP's latest update, it looks like there are a few places that will trade growlers - Bang, Northgate, Insight, Badger Hill.

In retrospect, it was Badger Hill but I somehow misunderstood that it was only for trading the non BH growler for a BH growler + the cost of a fill. The use of the word "glass" threw me. I mistook that to mean that you could get a pour (a "glass") of beer in exchange for the growler. My very sad mistake.

    I like the policy, though!

I can confirm that they will take in any growler you have and give you one of theirs filled with the deposit fee waived, as they did it for me.

It's an awesome and very generous policy. Not that $5 is a significant amount of money, but when you've got even five growlers sitting at home, sometimes getting one from another brewery just doesn't seem worth it if you aren't filling them on a regular rotation. Saving a little bit of scratch a trading an empty - great deal!

Well, there's this, from this morning:
No updates on their Facebook page to mark this event in their timeline just yet, but I see that they recently added a larger capacity delivery vehicle, and have doubled their sales accounts.

I'd say give 'em a month or two.

Sidhe Brewing Company on the East Side of St. Paul is opening soon, targeting St. Patrick's Day to open its taproom. From its Facebook page:

"This is it folks, SBC can officially make beer!! We passed our state inspection in the brewery this morning, and we got a certificate of temporary occupancy yesterday from the city of St. Paul. So now we will be brewing beer to build up our inventory and plan to have a soft opening in about three weeks. We still need to pass our final inspection by the city and state but I hope we can hit 03/17 for this. We would love for you to be able to come and have a beer at O'Sidhe on St. Patrick's Day."
