I think I got the last one at Castle Vav, unless they had multiple cases. Happy to get my one.

OK lets see. Castle Vav and the South Loop Binnys are both out. Grand had not received their shipment yet when I called at 2pm.
Kimbark Liquors and the Binnys Express in Hyde Park both had at least 1 bottle remaining when I left (on the shelf anyway), both were $13.99. Printer's Row wine shop said they were expecting their shipment right about now, 3pm today.

I got a few bottles and am happy so I stopped calling around at that point, but pretty sure that Capones and Fischmans with have theirs today as well.

Also FYI, Two Brothers 15 Beers/15 Years beer #5 is at Binnys today. Its Take Two, labeled as a Hybrid Beer.

These types of posts are exactly why I have stopped chasing and buying "rare" beers.

Yeah, the only reason I stopped at Castle Vav is because I saw it on twitter and it was on the way to another errand I had to run.

After a few years of chasing "rare" stuff it suddenly became a boring and expensive hobby I no longer enjoyed.

It was hardly a chase, at least for me. I knew which places are on my way home from work and they were all stocked. I do still chase once in awhile when its worth it. Mostly I just know its a hyped beer and am happy to help people find what they're looking for.

Im sure your posts are well intended. But what actually comes from posts like above is a flood of nerds or "truck chasers" flying from shop to shop for this weeks hottest new, rare or whatever, beer.

Hmm I guess I never considered it bad to pass on such info. All it takes is a few phone calls to get that info. However if thats how most BAers feel I would gladly not post it. I'll still post awesome tappings though

    As a good "for instance":
I posted about Parabola being at Rogers Park a couple weeks ago.
I didnt even buy a single bottle but wanted people to support a beer store I love and appreciate. My biggest concern is that people ran there and ONLY bought Parabola and then fled once they got their coveted hot item. Or, they were out of Parabola and the patron moved on without purchasing anything at all.
Im sure advocacy is your intention, I just think the (unfortunate) side effect is a single-minded customer shit-fest for many stores.

Many people believe that sharing information is advocacy and believe that is an absolute. I believe information should be shared but I realize that the sharing of information does lead to many of the problems we complain about as beer geeks. Is it better to share information about bottles and tappings so everyone knows and people drive from miles to take part or is it better to say nothing and allow those who frequent establishments to reap the rewards? Both can be considered advocacy and both will have people complaining.

I tend to prefer sharing information outside of the public forum and with locals. To me this is the lesser of two evils. I prefer to see locals and regulars reap the benefits. Sometimes I will be on the right side of this and sometimes I won't, that is fine with me.
