The only Shipyard beers I've tried are Smashed Pumpkin and their barleywine, both of which were excellent. Unfortunately, a brewery has to get good sales from their core brands if they expect overall success in a given market. Big beers alone won't keep them afloat in TX.

That would seem logical I suppose. They have approvals going back to '09, long before AB ever acquired them. Most are dated before they sold to AB. Its just one of those things that make you go huh.

I've never heard nor am I familiar with Shipyard. Ironically I'm in Jacksonville for business and after work got a variety 6 pack from the local Publix. In that 6 pack was a Shipyard IPA that is average. I'll keep an eye out for their other beers to try.

Notable label approvals for the last two weeks:
Dogfish Head - Positive Contact (750mL bottles & kegs)
Dogfish Head - 120 Minute IPA (12oz bottles) note: if you look at the actual approval, it states 15.18% ABV both claimed and tested, which I believe is a typo. It should be 18%. Label does not state ABV.
    Dogfish Head - Tweason'ale (12oz bottles & kegs)
    Jester King/Mikkeller - Weasel Rodeo (750mL bottles)
Jester King/Mikkeller - Drinkin' in the Sunbelt (750mL bottles)

    Oh and...
Anuheiser Busch - Margaritaville Spiked Lemonade
Anuheiser Busch - Margaritaville Spiked Tea

Good to see that the drought of 120 Minute in bottles since 2009 (right?) might be coming to an end. Sure, it's been available on tap, but I just love aging the bits out of it. Still got some 2011 bottles I smuggled from Florida on my shelf.

Jester King/Mikkeller 'Driinkin' in the Sunbelt' has been done for a while now, so I'd expect to see that in stores either this week or next. I know I saw a bunch of cases ready to go on a brewery tour a few weekends back.

ABV on 120 Minute can vary by batch. We had a little scare with a keg of it last year. I looked around for an ABV to put on a cheat sheet for servers and I came up with 15% - 20% (DFH website) and 18% (BA page) so I went with 18% but then realised our licence (BG) only allows us to sell beer and wine up to 17%. I spoke to someone at DFH who told me the batch we were selling was between 15% and 16% (can't recall the exact figure).

I'm very glad to see we're getting bottles again.

Not a typo. Dogfish Head has been known to overstate their ABV by around 3%. Most states don't require testing, but since Texas does now, that sounds like the real ABV to me.

This week's update is going to be rather boring.

    NO LABEL APPROVALS.

Not for malt beverages, nor liquor, nor wine. Either they're not updating the site or someone took a vacation. Hopefully more next week!

Macrobrew Fact of the Week: Budweiser & Clamato is available in 12oz bottles, 16oz & 24oz aluminum cans in Texas, carrying an ABV of 5%.

    This week's update...

Boulevard - 80-Acre Hoppy Wheat Beer (12oz bottles)
Brouwerij The Musketeers - Troubadour Westkust Black IPA (750ml bottles) [new brewery to Texas]
    Rogness - Bella Belgian-Style Golden (22oz bombers)
Rogness - Yogi Spiced Amber (22oz bombers)
Rogness - Rattler Pale Ale (kegs)
Sixpoint - The Spice of Life Series Ale (kegs)

and some winter beers are showing up...
    Redhook - Winter Hook #28 (12oz bottles & 22oz bombers)
Widmer - BRRRR Winter Ale (12oz bottles)

Good to see more more Rogness getting bottled! I dig Yogi on tap.

Macrobrew Fact of the Week: Redhook & Widmer are owned respectively at 34% and 40% by one Anheuser-Busch inBev.
