I find a lot of Black IPAs straddle (and sometimes gleefully vault over) the line between IPA and stout. I love both styles, so I tend to dig them either way.

IIRC, I really liked Dubhe as well.

Out there as collectors items or still being brewed today? I'd love to get hold of a can just to have one. I can remember seeing cases of generic beer at my Aunt & Uncle's house in Puyallup, WA back in the 70s when I was super young.

Unless you dig the taste of burnt maple syrup, then it's a must have.:grimacing:

you know, I don't even remember what it was. It was many years ago. I just recall it was my first sour.... average craft beer level, nothing super fancy, and just wow. One of only 2-3 drain pours of my life. Can't even cook with that.

for those of you who dislike sours, you know what I mean.

props to anyone with the guts to try chelada clamato. your a better beerphile than me!

I thought the worst was Wild Blue.. until yesterday.

I was bartending at the location of Ratebeer Winter Gathering in Tampa and would go in the back room every so often to check out which bottles were being shared. Well, I just happened to have the misfortune of pouring myself some horribly infected Idiot's Drool. Huge mistake.

Flavor/aroma profile of this vile abomination:
    -Nail polish remover
    -Vomit
    -Spoiled cheese and meat
    -Poop

Just god-awful. Heed my warning and stay away from this one!

Shiner Smokehaus was cringe-worthy. I even tried burning my taste-buds away with some 75 IBU+ beers then came back and it was still just not good.
Probably the first craft beer I tried while still in school (around 2003) and on vacation in Montana, Lang Creek Brewery's Tri-Motor Amber. Horrible. It tasted like they tried fermenting used engine oil. My dad couldn't drink it either - drain poured 3 bottles.
    Both are now retired....

Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout, Magic Hat #9 and Blue Point Blueberry Ale all come to mind. The #9 is noteworthy since I had it on tap at their brewery so I know I got it at its "best".

The first thing I did when I started experiencing more quality crafted beers, was to revisit ones that were established. I would have to say Red Dog was the worst for me, it was overly carbonated, flat and felt like some of it congealed in my throat?

Live in Maryland...so Old Bay Seasoning is king (so big they are putting it in Filet o Fish tartar sauce at McDonalds). Anyway, went to a craft beer festival. Local Hotel/Brewery had two offerings. One was an ale brewed with Old Bay. Quite possibly the worst thing I've ever drank, let alone worst beer. For something mainstream, I'd have to go with Bud Select 55. It was like someone spit beer into water and then bottled it. Absolutely terrible.

I know Trappist Rochefort 10 is highly rated and loved by many, but it is one of the worst beers I have ever had. It straight up tasted like medicinal medicine and liqorcie syrup mixed together. And the booze was coming threw quite a lot. Can someone please explain to me why people like this beer? I actually drained poured it. One of the worst beer experiences I have ever had.

And yes, my palate is aware of foreign taste. I love Belgium beers, german beers, and english beers.

10 years ago nobody was allergic to Gluten. It is now the hip ass thing to walk around and tell people your allergic too

As for the beer I've never even pondered drinking the sap that comes out of the back of a garbage truck. But if a respected beer reviewer can describe a beer as tastin like cat piss and still give it an A then I guess that could be the new beer review description.

A tie of brutality between Coors Light and Miller Icehouse. Bud Lite Platinum was pretty close though.

Fat Heads Bumble Berry or Rouge Maple Bacon. I wouldn't serve those to my worst enemy.

I guess it was the most recent worst beer I've tasted. Cat pee was first thing I thought of when drinking the beer. Too unbalanced for my palate.

Brainless on Cherries.. I'm a big fan of cherry flavor and was excited to try this one. I may have gotten a bad bottle but it was undrinkable.

Probably not the worst and I'll get crap for it, but Stone Ruination was way too bitter for me. I wouldn't buy it again to be honest.
