Holy rumcakes, Batman! Dear Lord, this may be perfect because it's still got a bit of zip to it. These are really nice when aged further and mellower, but there is also something to be said for catching it at the right moment. That's where this seems to be- nice snap from the hops on the finish.

Revisit review day:

Haven't had this in about 4 years, and holy damn have I been missing out. This is an outstanding English IPA! Big aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange zest and pine with some caramel/toasted bread malt balance. Awesome aromas, very juicy. Taste follows the aromas with a nice pine/citrus rind bitter finish. Very juicy hop flavors and moderate malt support. Smooth, crisp, and sticky/resinous finish. Just downright fantastic all around. Much higher review than the 2011 version, but then again I probably didn't even do bottle date caring back then. Best by date is 5/7 so its pretty damn fresh as well(2/7ish bottling). Super glad I got a whole 6 pack. Will definitely be buying again when it's fresh.


Spring pack means I can have this again. Great schwarzbier as usual. Aromas and taste of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, and some herbal hops. Fair amount of herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Great bitter/sweet balance of roasted flavors, and very robust in flavors. Super clean lagering with zero yeast notes present. Smooth and crisp finish with some creaminess; slightly sticky/chalky as well as expected of roasted malts. Delicious and spot on to style.


Dec 2012 bottle. Outstanding as expected. Very well balanced aromas with restrained grapefruit/tangerine/orange peel and slight piney hops with balanced caramel, toast, brown sugar, and raisin notes nearly overtaking the hop character. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, raisin, leather, grapefruit, tangerine, orange peel, light pine, and some herbal/grassy hop earthiness. Light-moderate pine/grassy bitter finish. Incredibly well balanced flavor with great developed malt complexity due to the aging. Fantastic smooth finish; really minimal warming alcohol for the ABV. Creamy with a lightly sticky mouthfeel and finish. Fantastic Barelywine!

Capping my night with this '13 Whal. Love this with a little age on it (hell, love it fresh too!). Taking it easy tonight. Don't want to cut into tomorrow's excessive drinking. Got my best friend/ex-best man coming over wit some Carton Regular Coffee which I've been dying to try (outside of a small beer fest sample) and I've got a growler of BCBS to thank him. Should be a drunken mess. Thank god our children will be there to learn a valuable life lesson. Dropping some knowledge on the young folk. #fatheroftheyear. Cheers.

Since you've already posted a thread on this topic (of which you received 8 pages of responses) and still find the need to question my specific post, I can only assume that you're hung up on this topic. The only correlation between my beer of choice and my music of choice is just that...my choice and my preference (only I prefer my beer to taste a little better than this one turned out ).
