I think it's more than that - TG has been something fairly exclusive and a point of pride for the Northeast Iowa area, and now some of that will be tarnished in a way.

Nothing like confusing my mind on a Friday.... Sure wish we'd get the actual news through TG instead of a third party source...

Anybody know what size system they will be brewing on in FL. Are we talking 100bbl batches, 1000bbl, or what? Will they keg and finally be able to get TG to all the draft accounts around Iowa that have been waiting for years for a TG tap handle?

Does this mean that TG products now have to go through one of our big distributors like Doll or Johnson Brothers and sit around in their warehouses?

    So many questions.......

If the people whining were from Northeast Iowa and using that as a point, I'd get it, because there's truth in what you're saying.

It's the same crowd that complained about lack of distro in the past. It's the same crowd that looks for a reason - any reason - to complain about TG all while paying tons of money for their products. My guess is their long term goal is to use this to spread distro, boost profits, and eventually move towards a Decorah based facility that can handle the entire production load.

I would assume that yes, they will have to go through a distributor for beer produced, packaged and shipped from out of state? Maybe I'm totally wrong there. Again, that's my biggest concern here is that once freight/shipping and a possible distributor gets involved, freshness definitely comes into play.

I would definitely agree with that. Hopefully there will be dating, so the consumer is making an informed decision.

Unreal. Today should be a Florida mandated holiday. It seems like every day, more and more whalezbro wash up on our beautiful Florida beaches.

Not sure if anyone could possibly know the answer to this or not, but is it possible also that people outside of Iowa will be able to get Sue as well with this new distribution? Living in Illinois it is somewhat close, but still almost a 5 hour drive to get the stuff.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Templeton Rye is a BS whiskey, with a BS story.

Answered my own question here. From the brew hub website.

    Batch Sizes
    • Scale-up of recipes to 100 barrel batches
    • Pilot brewery available for small batch trials

    http://brewhub.com/partner-brewing-services-2/

The largest fermenter in Decorah is 60 barrels (which they have only filled once) and they have to brew 2 or 3 batches (20 bbl or 30 bbl brewhouse) to fill that. Brew Hub will be able to do 100 barrels in far less then the time it would take TG to do 60 with round the clock brewing.

All I read is what I wanted to take away from all this. Toppling Goliath through distributor = deliveries to Minnesota! :grinning:

Don't worry Casanova's, I still love you and will still visit for all my non-Minny beer needs.

I'm sure they will be able to cut down on shipping costs some once the Brewhub plant in St. Louis opens, but still, the whole thing is a little weird in my opinion...

Kinda explains why they stuck with Huna Day and canceled EBF. Must of finished some last minute paperwork and brewing.

There is no legal difference in Iowa code (there is some slight difference in administrative code) between a native Iowa brewery and a distributor (brewpubs are different). Iowa law is pretty awesome in that regard. That means that, if they choose to do so, Iowa Beverage could start up their own brewery and taproom, or 515 Brewing could be the wholesaler for Russian River. At least in Iowa, the question isn't one of legality, but of logistics and business (which is the way I think it should be).

I'm repeating myself from other TG threads.

I'll have more, many more fucks to give when TG is available in MN. Until then I don't give a rat's ass.

Now I really want to try some 515.
