I heard that too with this year's that when it gets close to the end it turns very sweet. I was offered a fresh bottle, I declined. Hop Juju though, I'd tap that on repeat.

As a preface, the only sours I have had before this are O'Dell Friek, and Monks Cafe. So this is a new flavor for me entirely.

Pours a veeeery hazy golden yellow. Light and fizzy carbonation, reminds me of champagne.

Smells, musty? I kind of understand the whole barnyard reference now, I get that hay, musty barn smell. Certainly unusual, but not offputting. Just a new realm for me.

Tastes bright, citrusey. Lemon, clementine, just a nice bright flavor. Dont really taste much of the funk, but a tart finish for sure. Not puckering, but certainly not sweet IMO.

Feels light and prickly on the tongue, very refreshing. I would love to drink this on a hot day.

New Beer Sunday--Seventh Son Ladies and Gentlemen second attempt at a Barley Wine (Jackie O's Brick Kiln was the first)
    - This Barley Wine was a better experience than the Brick Kiln at 750ml and 11% ABV, 50 IBU it was slightly bitter, caramel & hoppy, ruby red/ amber in color very light on the carbonation but a good mouth feel. I will not purchase this again mainly because Barley Wines are not my thing.

Where'd you get the R2 opener? My brother (same first name as you) has a birthday coming up, and he'd love that, as would his 5 yr old, who shouts "Yay! Dead Guy!" whenever my brother brings one out of the fridge.

I got juju with the same trade and preferred it over Chillwave for sure and it was a few weeks older.

    New Beer Sunday!

Tried Dark Horse's, "Double Crooked Tree IPA" for the 1st time today. With it's pretty thick mouthfeel & higher ABV (12%), I kept wanting to compare it to Molotov Cocktail. It seems to have a thicker mouthfeel than Molotov Cocktail - slightly less citrusy, too. High ABV pretty well hidden.

    Solid double IPA.

Hope everyone's having a great day!

This Pinner was canned on 02/25/15 with "It's Saul good man" on the bottom of the 12 ounce can. Seems I can never remember to look at the bottom before I open it:slight_smile: At first glance I see nothing special - a lackluster yellow hue with a half inch of white foam that won't hang around for long and lacking lace creativity. It got my attention at the nose - pleasant pine, watermelon, peach, earthy wet grain, and cut grass. Very appealing on the palate as well - melon, citrus, floral/grassy hop notes, mild pine, and rising yeast rolls. Medium-light bodied and perfect carbonation complement the other attributes making this one great drinking beer. Overall, I must say that two Pinners are better than one. Cheers!

OK folks, last beer for today is quite the grand finale. Courtesy of @FlakyBiscuit , I submit the following:

Very fragrant and the taste - well, this one isn't going to smooth anyone over as it's a rough abrasive bit of wonder that keeps on presenting violent bourbon chocolate!! Second sip brings out a hidden gem that with age and a little more maturity may change it significantly. At it's current age, I find it brash, unique and in your face. With age, well I bet it turns into a mega star.

Reminds me of this band and how they changed yet kept their individuality:

    Then:

Later on, after aging a bit:

What's up NBS players. My finial day of a weeks vacation. Nice to get away and recharge the batteries but also nice to get back to my people and the grind. Sunny and just shy of the 40's here on the island. Nice but still pretty cool.

My new beer is another bottle offering from Singlecut. I hit their brewery a couple of months ago and they didn't have this on tap. As I'm sure I've said it before but between these guys and Other Half it's just an insanely good amount of beer being put out in the nyc boroughs. Todays offering is Bon Bon 2xtnt IIPA.

The pour shows a straw yellow color that is cloudy as hell with a frothy head and lacing. Nice sexy nose of hops, and citrus fruit. I get mostly grapefruit and orangey tones. The taste hits with a tangy, hoppy, and spicy start. Big time hops with a definite citrus feel. Juicy as all hell with a very solid mouth feel and a nice bitter finish. Really spot on and enjoyable brew and just a great beer. The 95 ba score is very realistic,

"...and from the ridiculous to the sublime."

I had a prof in college who would say that whenever she wanted to steer the class back on track whenever discussion had veered to some sort of goofy tangent. That pretty well sums up the journey from Famosa to my next beer, Seizoen Bretta:

Maybe sublime is not quite the right word, because much as I like this beer, I don't think it would ever be something I'd want more than one of at a sitting, but it was still awfully good, and I'm thrilled Logsdon is finally being distributed in my area.

If I'm not back with another, have a great couple of weeks, folks, as I'll be out of town for next week's NBS and probably won't be chiming in.

    Hello all you NBSers!
Its cold cold cold again here. Yesterdays 43 felt like 65 I must say. Bock n Rock was a great time. Thoroughly enjoyed your posts and I may have pushed it to the limit but you only live once! And this winter has made me a little more crazy if that's possible.
Todays selection is the last in the Maine package from my Bro. I was expecting it be the best and it outlived my expectations.........
EPIPHANY Maine IPA, Foundation Brewing, Portland Maine
A- a gorgeous burnished gold and orange color with a nice head that calms right down with very little to no lacing.
    some cloudiness but nice.
S- AROMA!!! this has one of the most alluring aromas on an IPA I have ever experienced. When I cracked the can put my nose right to that bad boy and WOW. Tropical fruits; dried mango, pineapple. Citrus; tangerine, orange some grapefruit but not overpowering like it can be in the style. Hibiscus flowers and orange blossom. this is one fine smelling brew.
T- Taste follows nose; tropical fruit, citrus. I always think about length and depth of flavor when I'm tasting and this has both depth and incredible length. There is very little bitterness. Just juicy, juicy juicy.
M- Nice and slick. Medium carb. Smooth as silk for the style. Probably due to addition of oats?
O- There's a new king in the East Coast style to me my friends and its this brew. If you like DIPA and IPAs and hops this is perfect in every way. Nice balance without bitterness. I'm thinking the grist- pilsner, pale, oats has a lot to do with this. Not sure what the other Big Boy IPAs do but this works. Beautiful hop combo. I mean this beer was delicious in everyway to me. Im already scheming to get more if possible. Worlds Class IMHO.
So riding back from dinner @ Richards Pub last night I hear Sultans of Swing from Dire Straits. Mark Knophler- what a fantastic guitarist that seems forgotten about............
Have a great week BA's and stay in touch. And as always thanks for listening! Get some Epiphany![IMG] [IMG]

I rarely NBS because my palette descriptions suck but my nose works just fine and nothing, I mean nothing, is more intoxicating than the aroma of a FW barrel aged beer. I've had FW13 - 17 and 17 was my favorite until...perhaps...now. The aroma is so captivating. The taste and mouthfeel is as good as any beer I've had not called CBS.
