Do it. Respect the brewer more than a shop. Especially if their shady dealings is leading to less bottles for you(and then consequently, us)

 

I have a hard time with this knowing only what we know. Is the shop owner doing anything illegit to get more bottles than he should? Is he gouging the price? Or is he just providing a couple people a way of trying a beer that they wouldn't have gotten to try otherwise by sharing his own allotment? If it's the latter, that sounds a lot like what we do here, the only difference being that he has a retail location and we're on the internet.

Ok, fine, it's much more likely that one or both of the first two criteria are a yes, in which case I'm much more on board with it, but as it stands I don't have that information.

Tell us more about this place. Are they selling brewery-only releases or do they just not get FW distro? What kind of markups are you seeing? I imagine they're selling them under the table somehow, but to whom? Is it just to buddies and loyal customers, or to the highest bidder?

I would say make sure that whatever they are doing is egregious and not just a bummer for you before going to the brewery with it.

 

Open to suggestions, I have only been to Boston once in the past 20 years.

Craft & Growler (highly recommend): craftandgrowler.com for list. They have some bottles, but primarily a growler fill place. Tons of growlers and supplies. Based on what is posted today, I'd go for Peticolas Sit Down, Live Oak Hefe, and (512) Cascabel for locals.

Unfortunately Boston law doesn't allow tap rooms... but anywhere outside of Boston proper does ( Nightshift/Jack's Abby) I'm definitely all about grabbing beers some where. when the date gets closer, we can see which has the best tap list.
