Not I, but a friend just a couple months ago dropped and broke a batch 1 Cuvee de Castleton that he was going to share with me... Last year at a tasting at the same guys house, one of the attendees dropped a Veritas 006 that he had brought.

Am I the only one who uses seat belts on my beer when driving?

Last December I was at a bourbon county event at a bar, and they were selling bottles to go. I was able to get a bottle of backyard rye, a barleywine and a coffee. I get home and as I'm walking in the parking lot, the single paper bag the bartender put all three bottles in breaks, and the bottle of coffee just exploded. thankfully the others survived.

Friend relayed a story to me wherein a buddy of his, drunk at 2am, dropped/shattered a brand-new Pappy 23.

Moral of the story: don't store the good stuff above your head.

Almost lost my entire beer cellar tonight when the shelves storing the bottles nearly collapsed. Held them in place long enough to let my wife move everything to the floor.

Paid respects to all the homies eh

Never dropped anything yet. Always support paper bags from the bottom, and six packs if they look questionable. My friend once dropped his entire 4pk of Chimay Red about 2ft onto concrete (they had the flimsy paper holder that held the bottles by the neck), but they all survived.

Heading back from RR after SF beer week for PtY, my brother-in-law dropped a 12 pack of Elder he was carrying for me while crossing the street (I had the other 12 pack in hand). One bottle crashed down and soaked the box for the 2 mile walk back to his crib. Another victim fell a few minutes later from the saturated box and we wisely threw in the towel & called for a ride. The Younger was worth it.

Knocked a 4 pack of BCBS off of a table in my cellar. 1 survived. The 4 pack was sitting behind a case of beer. I was sliding another case onto the table and pushed the first case back when I heard the sickening sound of glass hitting the floor. It sure did smell good.

It seems a couple people are breaking Dark Lords, are we sure it's not intentional?

Westys, cantillons, jester kings, stuff we brought back from every vacation over the last 5+ years. All would have been gone. Such a close call!

I think my worst offense so far has been a bottle of KBS. Handle ripped on a paper bag and I dropped the whole 4-pack. Luckily, only one broke.

Guess it's not so bad in hind sight but it was a real bummer for an hour or so.

True, I "spilled" 3/4 of my bottle of 2012 DL down the sink.

Knocked a 750 mL bottle of CCB Life Is Like off the counter with my elbow because I wasn't paying attention. Snagged it out of the air with my hand as it fell. So I don't think this counts.

Seat belt? The good stuff rides in a child seat.

Used to do that all time time when buying large quantities of stuff from Russian River, FiftyFifty, and beer stores if I bought enough they gave me a case box. Living in Lincoln, CA meant taking the 193 to Auburn when heading to Truckee. Man that was a fun road.

or don't tell your drunk friends you have top shelf bourbon on the top shelf. It's tough to appreciate stuff like that when you're already in the bag...

Never broke one myself because I'm overprotective with stuff like that. The only things I've broken are glassware but nothing was rare.

I didn't say that clearly - it was the guy's own bottle, after everybody else left a few minutes before because it was "time to go."
