Those beers are better than what you are drinking but not really worth giving up what it takes to get them. I haven't had KBBS or any of the TG stouts but I have had Assassin, DBH and BA Abraxas. They were all awesome but BA Abraxas was mind blowing to me. That being said they are only incrementally better than a ton of lesser beers out there that you can get your hands on. And like people said if you really must try something get together with a group and each trade one bottle to get it. It's not really worth chasing or worrying about it, hell a Trillium IPA is going to give you as much satisfaction as one of the whales.

 

Out of curiosity, and since you've probably had it. How does Pugachev Royale stack up? Because I thought that beer was awesome and was kicking myself for not going to line up early lol

 

I think you somehow replaced my name with @Syracuse12 and seem to have missed his guess. We guessed consecutively both chronologically and in finish time. I think I FTFY above...

 

While I had Royale at 2am after like a million beers, it was amazing. I think it is definitely on that next level of beers for sure. Some of them like DBH I was disappointed in, it was great but it wasn't infinitely better than regular Huna like I thought(or like the BA Abraxas was).

I meant to say KBBS or SR-71, it's early and I have a 5 year old and 2 year old fighting in the background over a homemade block boat.

So I'll echo a few people in here. It’s probably better than a chunk of what you drink on a daily basis, but those aren’t beers designed to drink on a daily basis. I’m very lucky to have tried most of the big stouts out there from recent years. A lot of them are really good, but some are overrated. For me it’s a little bit about the chase but mostly about the people I drink with. DBH is on the god tier level or at least it was this past winter when I most recently had it. BA Abraxas is really good, but probably not worth the price of admission. Coffee Abraxas was great… I can go on and if you have questions about certain beers feel free to BM.

Over rated… honestly it really is. I thought it was quite good, but it was very thick and almost chewy. Pugachev Mocha on the other hand was PHENOMENAL.

See it's all subjective really, everyone will like different things and value them differently.

 

Haha yeah different tastes, different palates who knows, they are all awesome really but it comes down to what it takes to get them and is it worth it.

Yeah, Mocha didn't do much for me (or the people I was drinking with) but Royale was a real stand out. I just hope that Pugachev Black Maple actually happens, because that sounded amazing
