When did you drink it at first? I believe it started to get dumbed down in the late 70s and by the 80s it was pretty crap. By the time Melanie Sykes started advertising it nationwide in the mid 90s it had reached its present level of awfulness. I suppose if you had it then - which is when I first had it - it was different enough to mass produced lagers that it might seem good

I'll add one more: <beer> is "drinking beautifully" or " drinking great right now'. Just say it tasted great.

The one that makes me laugh is all the BA's that say a brewery makes solid beer (I am sometimes guilty too). All I can think is the Coors frost brewed. I do not like beer ice cubes.

Oh wow, nevermind then lol I first had it in maybe 2004? And it tasted creamy and sweet with honey back then. Now it tastes like band-aid with a bubblegum aftertaste. It smells good though. Anyway, I appreciate your perspective. Perhaps when I had it the first time it was just as bad but my taste buds were not as sharply developed for beer ...

I'm getting sick of hearing about people "dialing in" a recipe. There have to be other types of controls on brewing equipment other than dials.

You don't have to say it. If you're talking about quality, value, or describing the way you sense a beer, it couldn't not be your opinion. Don't be scared, it's okay to have those here.

Once a sommelier told me that you can find like 200 flavors in beer, and told me "you´re lucky if you can find 10" then I replied "You´re lying if you can find 200". I think there are limited notes in beer and that´s why we all describe them the same way, that combined on our limited food reference to compare. Here in this forum I described coriander seed tasted like artificial orange flavor candy. And that´s how I´ve seen sommeliers and cicerones describing flavors to sound more "profesional" but if they say it´s "citrus, orange, orange peel, orange candy, orange syrup" that´s kind of the same flavor, but they found 5 instead of 1, so I think that´s why we overuse terms, we don´t care to sound like that, just tell what it tastes like for our palate. Cheers!

I'm shocked I got all the way here and no one has said "Meh". I swear thats like 90% of reviews on apps like Untappd

"The best" and "your favorite." But I work in the industry so the argument is one sided. Please stop asking us what is the "best" or our "favorite?" Do you see how silly such questions are?

Get a Cave Creek Chili Beer... might change your worldview on drainpour  But I understand what you're saying, seems to be an awful lot of beer-dumping from some reviews I've seen.

There are those rare beers that probably truly are destined for the drain (never had that cave creek, lucked out and never bought a voodoo maple bacon) but yeah, from people's comments on here, reviews, seems like a LOT of decent beer going to the crocodiles.

It would have to be an utterly horrible beer for me to pour my hard earned money down the drain. I drink beer because i love it, the taste, etc. but also because it is ALCOHOL. If it's THAT bad, chug-a-lug and move on to something better.

    Domestic
While not referred to with respect to craft beer, this word just pisses me off. By definition, any domestic beer is one made within the country it is being served. I spoke with a local guy yesterday at another bar who said he wouldn't come to our place because we don't have "domestic" beer. Sure, it has always been used to describe American piss water, but the fact that it is a misused term just drives me nuts.

Again, I ask: what are everyone's suggested alternatives? It's not that I disagree some terms are overused (synonym: hackneyed), but, really, what should be used instead?

Don't get me wrong, there are descriptors that make my skin crawl, but mostly because they're either a) euphonically bereft (they sound dumb. Sorry, all this talk of overused words has me desperately searching for new ways of saying the same old thing) or b) they represent sentiment I can't abide (i.e., "tradebait").

    Anyway, I'll start a list...

    Dank: Green? Pungent?
Complex: Layered? "I taste a lot of flavors in this beer"?
Balanced: "No one flavor dominates"? "The contrasting flavors in this beer, such as bitter hops and sweet malt, work well together"?
Drinkable: "I could drink this very quickly"?
Crushable: "This was easy to drink, and I'd readily drink several more"?
Sessionable: "If you wanted to drink several of these and not be drunk, you could do it"?
Overrated: "The scores this beer receives are not comensurate with its qualities, and I think the difficulty in obtaining it may contribute to such inflated scores"?

You see, it's not so easy with some of these...

    I'm so sorry. I didn't know.
The IPA I had last night had so many floaties in it... sucks for me 'cause I hate beer with adjuncts.
    There - we're at 100% now.

(we can also add "floaties" to this list)
