Now that the cat's out of the bag, we must all realize that we hate everything that everyone says. We only come here out of hatred and self-loathing (and to pass the time at work).

I'm kind of tired of people using terms like "juicy" for hops. You want juicy? Try a Texas Red Grapefruit instead. Then there's people using terms like "funky" every time Brett is mentioned as if the product is spoiled. I do not believe these people are for real but trying to troll the forums of Beeradvocate.

This one definitely for me. "Oh, so that IPA tastes like banana & coconut? Great!"

Yes, definitely depending on how it's used...me too...

If you have a cat and you whiff on some Simcoe hops (and a few others) you get the distinct CAT pee. Trust me, with a newborn son, a geriatric dog, and a healthy drinking habit, I know that cat whiz has a distinct aroma from other pee or ammonia.

Board Meeting Brown wowed me. It was amazing. I don't think those were the words I used at the time, but they fit.

I can see the problem with "best." However, I like all beers. So, I'm at a new place, with 10 minutes and $10 to waste and I don't know any (or enough) of your beer to choose.

    What's your favorite?
(If I get lucky, and only rarely do) X
    Pint of X please.

No issue. I always turn down the tiny "tastes." Forget it. I'll take my chances. I don't recall regretting it enough to care.

It was a first class example of its type , a session bitter beer. Then Whitbread wanted it in their pubs. The end result was a final product totally unlike the original Boddy's.One thing which I was told by somebody involved was that they used a special malt , only available in small quantities and the bean counters worked round this by substituting basic pale malt. Then they drastically cut the hopping. Finally they shoved it in cans with the abominable nitro thing. Yuk.

There's nothing wrong with being impressed by a beer. That pleasant surprise is always a great feeling when trying a new brew. My issue is with people who place unreasonable expectations on subtle styles of beer not designed to meet them.

I like "dank". It describes a flavor that goes beyond pine and resin, approaching cannabis, sinsemilla, skunk weed, etc. Citra hops can be 'tropical' and 'dank' at the same time. I can't think of a more appropriate word for that taste.

And Xanadu. Imagine a Dank Xanadu Glockenspiel fresh offering. Even at a great price point, I'd avoid that drain pour.

Overrated tasted like pineapples to me. Not like eating one, mind you, just a subtle cameo behind the typical orangey/lemony hops.

I find myself saying "high(ly/est) rated" a lot to my friends who are just getting into quality or "craft" beer. I also do this for breweries when I am attempting to explain why I drive 4-6 hours/way on a weekend to visit a place for 3-4 hours...

I feel your pain! With the drought in California the environmentally responsible BA is garden pouring.
