Not as much as when I was in college. Also Im never up that late at home. I have been know to find a 4am bar on the weekends though and then head right to breakfast around 5 or 530 so the sun is up by the time i get home but that is maybe once or twice a month.

My son goes to sleep about 8:30 each night and I usually enjoy a beer between then an 11:00 which is typically bed time. On weekends we sometimes go to the local brewery and I will have a beer or two with my dinner or while outside working in the yard.

I have a teething 14 month old daughter. IF I'm up past midnight it's not by my choosing and usually I am trying to get back to bed as fast as possible

It used to be the norm for me but now I don't drink like I used to. Some of my best non-memories come from late night indulging.
With that said , I think a local musician ( Plymouth ) puts it in prospective.

knocked out some TV shows last nite from 11 to 3:30 this morning and finished off the last 2/3 of my Lips of Faith Cocoa Mole. Needed the growler emptied out for today. I regret that now because that isn't a beer you want to consume 44 oz of in 1 sitting, it wears on you

Lovely idea, but I work for an East Coast company and I'm in PST. No way I stay up past midnight very often.

I rarely drink before 11pm, when my first brew is opened. I sip on it until approximately 12am each night while I read in my attic or on the porch (esp now that it's summer), and then depending on what I have on my schedule for the following day, I usually open another of a different style. I love starting with stouts and finishing with IPAs. Occasionally this will last into the morning, usually for Saturday nights when Sunday is free until about noon.

If I'm having a beer after midnight, there's a good chance that I'm drinking for volume rather than quality. If I have my choice, there's nothing better than sampling good beers early in the evening with nothing on the schedule.

Where I used to live in Mississippi, I had 3 bars in a mile radius that were open 24/7....needless to say, I did a lot of drinking after 12AM...and that was in my early 40s

I love a good late night/early morning drinking session but after midnight I've usually switched to AAL or if I'm in a bad decision making mode, liquor.

OP posted this at 4am. I wouldn't expect a response anytime soon.

To answer the question: Outside of special occasions, I don't drink often after midnight... I have a 8am-5pm job and hate throwing off my entire week because I stayed out all weekend. Lack of sleep doesn't help with the workouts, either. I'd be super obese if I did that with any type of regularity.

As for urges: I rarely feel the "urge" to drink, although, last night was an exception. Unexpected late-night vet bill for $2,000. I required a drink to deal with that financial kick to the balls. But, I only had one and went to bed shortly after.

    These responses were awesome!!!

I've been running a couple of privately-owned liquor stores in Orlando, one of the stores also has a bar and I don't usually get off until 12am or 2am and I gotta get the beagle before I do anything, whether I drink at home or go somewhere. Since I was a kid though, I've stayed up till sunrise so my body is definitely used to it. Last year, I started a music agency & booking firm and had mostly international artists for clients, so I'd get off work at 2am and in Russia, it would be morning, so I'd take my meeting on Skype and breeze through the night with more work but I sold the company because the money was wasn't worth it and went back to writing. For the most part, now, phone calls wake me up in the morning before my alarm. I roughly sleep about 5-8 hours, whatevers clever. I have not ever drank a bomber to myself or a growler. I usually stick with High-ABV beers in 12oz format or Ill only drink 5oz pour to get me there and I feel right with some dope added.

I'm 26, I have no children or wives. I work out twice a day.

Drinking puts me to sleep so no chance I could do this. I have to be up for work at 4am in the morning. On my days off, I'm still up early so I will drink BEFORE sunrise but definitely not drinking through the night til the sun comes up. God I'm old at 33.

Shoot. The kids are in bed by 9 at the latest and I am usually right behind them. Usually have an after-work beer when I get home. Those are the best! Usually one and done for me by 7pm.

I'm in college and when i'm drinking past 12am it usually results in me being miserable the next day or sleeping until 2:00pm only to awake in desperate need of a coffee and Advil. My life the last 4 years, sad its over in May.

If I have nothing to do the next day, then it's not unusual for me to drink beer til 3 or 4 in the morning. This happens maybe once a week.
