I use this a lot. But how else do you say it?

Sometimes I look at thesaurus.com for other more descriptive, less used adjectives - but sometimes the the words most often used are the best fit.

If you lack skill or talent in brewing beer, passion covers you? As in, he came in third to last in that half-marathon, but he was driven by passion?

Growing up in rural KY, you learn at a very young age the difference between the taste of freshly mown hay vs older dried out hay. Not trying to argue, just saying it's probably not that uncommon

I tend to describe carbonation as "buzzing" quite frequently. Although I don't know if that's necessarily a bad thing. I also describe beers as creamy, semi-dry, roasted, charred, etc.

To be honest, Leinenkugels Snowdrift Vanilla Porter was incredibly boring. It didn't mean I felt the need to call a friend or yawn like a lion when I took a drink, it was just really uninteresting. There's flavorful, tasteless, and somewhere in there next to underwhelming is "boring".

If we all know what the word 'balanced' means as it applies to beer, why the hell should we have to write an entire sentence just to describe what we mean?! My writing instructor from college would give your paper an 'F' for being wordy.:wink:

I disagree. Dank is too close to skank. And, having had the displeasure of associating with a few of those in my day, it's not a taste/smell anyone wants more of. And, based on your definition of dank, it's pretty much what I'm talking about... skunk, cannabis, pine, etc.

Agree on this. Just when I was about to post that most everything people have mentioned is pretty fine with me..then quaffable shows up and that one truley is untolerable. Screams of pretention and doucheness!!

It's not the word itself, it's the fact that not all beer is supposed to be balanced. Yet people use that term in reviewing almost every style.

There is a difference between being 'balanced' and 'having balance'. Saying a beer is balanced suggests the latter.

"Chewy." Just because your brewery produces a single stout or porter, that does not automatically make it chewy.

I always wondered that myself, I think "complex" means you can't figure out what is in the brew.
