It sort of also has a very lemon limey kind of character, but of course it's not very large...

If you go in with those expectations I think, instead of wanting some IPA-Flavor dry hopped bomb of the month then you can appreciate it for what it is.

It tastes to me like a perfect East coast template style beer. From this point is where your start adding the other hop accents and try to make something real interesting. I am sure it's pretty tough.

but trying to drink em is the easy part at least.

I've yet to be blown away by anything Burial's done - though I like their spot in Asheville, and root for them heavily. I haven't had this one - I'm an hour and a half from them and we don't see there stuff here much.

I've been a fan of the series except Amarillo. Galaxy and the last Release were winners for me. I'll go in it with an Open Mind and Empty Stomach.

Good evening. Where the hell did the weekend go? Oh well on to my final new beer, Bells Saturn.

Sweet bourbon, butterscotch, vanilla, caramel aromas. Not much in the way of dark fruit or wood on the nose. It certainly has a very nice smell.

It is bourbon forward with plenty of vanilla, caramel, and some butterscotch. Semi sweet and not very hoppy. No real dark fruit notes, but it does have some oak/wood in the middle.

A solid BBBW that should mellow a bit with age. It's not overly bourbon, but I think I will appreciate the other 3 bottles even more come October-December.

Yes, Kyle was a terrific Tripel. Wish that was something we could find brewed more often from our local breweries.

I might send an E-mail asking them to package that brew again. Just because I disliked it doesn't mean you're going to dislike it. I just wish I would've known you never had it. They sat here for a long while. I would've sent you a few.

NBS’ers, if that is in fact a term…so it took me a while, 100 days to be exact, but I’ve finally realized this is where all the cool kids hang out. For my inaugural NBS, I present a local brew from Back East Brewing in Bloomfield, CT, Summer Ale. Pictures are from earlier but I'm still hanging with this one.

This is a really solid and easy drinking beer, perfect for the warmer weather. Color is everything you would expect from a blonde ale, pale yellow/gold with a fluffy white head. The aroma is of citrus peel, clementine, tropical fruit, touch of pine. Taste is clean and crisp with a touch of bitterness, which is followed by a dry finish. Bitterness leaves fairly quickly with nothing but a faint lingering trace. Pine, floral, citrus and cracker are predominant in the taste, pithy, no representation of tropical fruits, unlike in the nose. Carbonation is spot on. Really enjoy this beer, especially after working out in the yard for 3 hours. I actually enjoyed this more than most of the session IPAs I’ve had, and can definitely see this as a staple in my fridge come summertime. Cheers!

Fired up the grill for some steaks and sausages combined with grilled asparagus, corn, and green bean casserole. Should have snapped a pic of the food, but forgot until I had devoured it...

After dinner now, and time for second new beer which comes to me thanks to @egrace84. I have completely enjoyed the stouts, porters, and barleywines from Central Waters, but this would be my first of their lighter offerings.

All in all, an excellent pale ale. Nice citrus aromas and flavors with just a touch of sweet malts. Another solid beer from CW.

I would be shocked if Saturn was Third Coast aged in barrels. Flavors are different to me as is the appearance. Saturn is much lighter than Third Coast.

First time dedicating the time to post in this thread and I went with a 2013 Bell's Third Coast Old Ale (9/19/13). I stumbled on this gem two weeks ago in Arizona while I was visiting my girlfriend. I had heard of it before, so when I saw this lone single in the back of the cooler I had to buy it and bring it home with me.

It poured a deep, rich amber/mahogany/burnt caramel color with thick/viscous/syrup-like consistency. Aroma is massively sweet, caramel/burnt sugar/toffee/dark fruits and the initial sip recalls the same with hints of new oak and coconut. The malt profile is toasty and sweet up front but well balanced with clean/spiced American hops on the finish. I drank this over the course of about 45 minutes and every sip was better than the last.

As much as I enjoy having session beers I sometimes need something with more of a kick. Time for some Evil Twin Aún Más Chili Jesus, another great installment in their Jesus series of beers.

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.75 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

11.2 oz bottle poured into a teku

A- Pitch black with a two finger mocha head.

S- Smoky, some chili peppers, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, dark fruits

T- Dark chocolate, fudge, roasted coffee, some smoke, hint of caramel and molasses, and the big star is the peppers in the finish. The peppers have a nice kick, but aren't overpowering do to everything else going on, nicely balanced.

    M- Smooth, thick, full body.

O- Evil Twin does it again, I haven't tried a stout from them that wasn't just awesome. Peppers are a great touch to this beer. If you like stouts with pepper this is a must try.

I had my chance in the past but didn't pull the trigger, the Single Hop series from Flying Dog gets a lot of attention it seems, to some degree I think it's a little overboard that alot of beer geeks just want them but don't want to try their other beers, but they are giving what the market wants, and the beers are actually decent some of them are also exceptionally good.

I also tend to go down to Total Wine when they are released and just buy one of them, as their 6 packs are sold at a premium, but they are worth it, but as people know me I like to try a variety of beers.

There's always a good chance it will come around again never say never when it comes to brews. There's always beers I've seen and I always told myself, I will NEVER get to try that... and it happens in some way or another.

    there's always hope!

Yeah-it did grow on me enough to get 3.5 for my overall category rating, and 3/4 other overall ratings were 4+, so some seem to enjoy this take.

Ha! Wasn't a fan of the dry beer I had, but really a fan of Houblon, so go figure :astonished:

Brought this back from a trip to Ohio last winter. Wasn't sure to expect after reading the reviews, but I am really digging it. Tastes like the old raspberry-filled chocolates I used to have as a kid. Not too much else going on, but what is there is really nice. Sweet and smooth.

    Starting with this .....

Look: Golden hued, 1-1/2 fingers of fluffy white head.

Smell: Da funk of a Belgian plus da hops of an American pale ale.

Taste: The funk hits first, estery goodness, then the hops follow. Some lemon maybe, and pineapple, too.

Feel: Well carbonated like a Belgian, a little syrupy like an APA.

Overall: I get the impression that Ommegang brewed this to join the "APA/IPA" parade that is dominating beer nerdery. A very nice effort on the part of one of my favorite brewers. Overall = 4.00
