I almost didn't sign up bc I can't ever make a good enough box

 

I had a long day at work and came home to fumes and rubble after sneak attacks from @Mikexw and @xICooRsYIx landed on my porch.
Here is Mike's:

Woah, this is an amazing box! Most of these are wants (it made me realize that I had Double Bastard as a want from my early days on BA). DDBA was delicious when I had it during the 12 Days of Xmas and glad to try it again. A mini BCBS vertical! Sunday Morning Stout was making me envious of you all and now I have two (more on that later). Plan Bee was also on the top of my list and came with its glass. However the highlight of this box is the personalized red glassware, which will impress at family gatherings. Thanks Mike. You killed it.

So, my evening could have been done by now but I had to go through Corey's box:

This made quite the one-two punch with the previous box. 3 bottles of Trillium! 3 bottles of Night Shift + a can! A Tree House can! My second SMS! Jack's Abby! NYFRB! Another amazing box of wants or should be wants. Ever the thoughtful person, @xICooRsYIx added some dentures cream and toothbrush. The tank will be claimed by my son. Thank you very much for this amazing box!

After the week I had last week, this shows me that Karma always finds a way to you. Thank you!
This is a major body blow and I will need to lick my wounds after these boxes. This is not over though! TSSRA!

LOL first off, the North has only gotten started. Secondly, @Mipper started a war with the entire state of Illinois single handedly, and by the time the dust had settled, we had won!

Wow, our very first @phuntasy post in The Locals, and I'm mentioned! Very flattered!

Well, you certainly got it right, in fact I just did that vertical for myself a few days ago. And a few weeks back did a side-by-side of the next thing on that list, Backwoods Bastard, from 2013 and 2014. Both tastings were excellent.

Super hoppy American Barleywine*? Sure, I'll do a vert of that. In fact I'm building one of 120 Minute IPA



*Triple IPA is just marketing speak for a super hoppy American Barleywine.

 

My box from @valrxman arrived today as well as a gift my gf got me. She put the gift on top of the beer and I tried to play off like I didn't see the box of beer. Later this convo went down.
Her: did you see what's under my gift? A box of beer. Me: how do you know its beer it can be anything. Her: its beer all you beer guys pack beer the same.

Makes me want to try a boss pour myself, the two times I've had it were at the bar under less-than-ideal conditions (small pour that had sat out a bit) so I'm curious if my thoughts (very tasty but not worth the hype) on it would change.

edit 2: also glad you decided to open your Abraxas, what were your thoughts on that one?

 

I wanted to bring the DDG to LOCALS 1.0 but thought 25 people, myself included, wasn't the best way to try a biggest want. I felt a little better sharing it with Jeremy.

The Abraxas when cold I got a decent wave of pepper and cinnamon though very little cacao nibs. As it got warmer it became, to me, more well blended and smooth. I've not had them side-by-side-by-side but I think my preference is Huna>Abraxis>Mexican Cake.

 

Awesome, I'm glad you enjoyed the Abraxas too, I'll definitely be seeking that out sometime down the road. I have no doubt that you'll bring killer stuff to the share, and since you weren't going to dome the DDG solo, this was a good way to do it. Cheers man!

Yeah your box was already planned and started, but the timing worked out well for you.

And glad everything made it safely (I was very concerned about the glass, which was a pain to get in the 12-shipper, but between your profile and other stalking you mentioned liking glassware, particularly liking sours, and wanting to try Plan Bee -- sending you Narciussus was a no-brainer). I focused mainly on wants with a few rare locals thrown in, New York stuff isn't quite as coveted as that amazing box Corey sent you...
