You would think that they would have released this variant yesterday? Seems like the right thing to do

So you want a Bruery Ticking Society membership?

Members only should mean something... I think a lot of people will disagree with the idea that you want access to RS/HS pours but don't want any bottles.

    agreed

For a person so against non members getting a pour , why would you offer to hook up people with Hoarders pours if they are so limited ?? Seems kinda ironic haha

I think offering a hoarders pour to the very few individuals reading this thread (who are most likely to be RS or HS members themselves) at the exact time he is in the taproom likely results in very few people actually taking him up on the offer and further, more likely than not limits those who get that benefit to people who are RS members.

To add to that, its a discretionary act offered to a fellow BA, rather than to a hoard of noobs. Simply making HS or RS beers available to all comers at the tasting room would result in actual members of the bottle club receiving little to no access to specialties being poured at any given time, imo.

I get your point, but whats wrong with a bunch of noobs trying these beers and possibly them liking them so much that they seek them out and become members themselves and add to the growing craft beer crowd. Its better for The Bruery and craft beer if that happens. All im saying is whats wrong with a taster or two?? Thats how i tried Black tuesday for the first time and led to me becoming a member.

He already mentioned one reason, in there being a limited amount of RS/HS exclusive kegs and that this would greatly decrease the amount of time they're available. Another reason not to would be that RS sold out in minutes last year. Getting more people to taste those beers not only wouldn't help The Bruery get new customers, but would probably lead to more people being angry at them simply due to the fact that they can't meet demand

Simple, in all the times I've offered hoarders pours, you know how often I've actually had someone come up to me? 3 times. That's 3 pours in months and months and months of offering.

More importantly, these people have all been members of RS already and just wanted to try something from HS. They already "paid their dues" for lack of a better term.

And honestly, if a fellow BA'r came up and wasn't a member and wanted a pour, I would do that as a courtesy as well but there is a massive difference between someone giving away 2-3 pours every few months to having the hoards of people who don't pay in taking all of our beer.

What would you rather have? Enough good beer for non-members so that it runs out for actual members or enough for the people who actually pay into the system?

THIS too. I was going to mention that and forgot. When the membership sells out in 2 hours after going on sale to the public, does the bruery really need more people? I know for a fact that their is no intention to increase the size of the society either.

I'm not going to restate was @thatinvisibo said, which I complete agree with.

To add, though, I think the beers generally on tap at the Bruery that are available to all are typically fantastic. The last time I was there, the beers available to all included 4 different variations of Bois, 4 different Smoking Woods, and Tart of Darkness w/Cherries and Vanilla, just to name some of them. If a person isn't too familiar with the Bruery, or people that are who aren't society members come in and aren't satisfied with those types of standard taproom offerings, then they should do their due diligence and cough up the $ to join Preservation and turn that into an RS membership at the end of the year. But from the standpoint of developing a following, the Bruery is doing plenty with what is available to all to create a fanbase and further business, imo.

I'm gonna suggest in the end of year they start a ticker society where you pay them 100 bucks for a single drop of any beer on tap. Just so people can check it off on untapped and BA. But make them pay the taster price for hs and rs drops.

Above discussion makes me wonder about PS to RS movement next year. Did PS language indicate that members WOULD be able to join RS? Or just have a chance to. If there aren't expansion plans, makes me wonder if there will need to be a lottery or limit for interested PS members to enter RS this year. Or am I overestimating the demand/attrition ratio?

Honestly i didnt know you had to "pay your dues" to get a pour of beer?? Is there some set of rules about being able to try a beer now?? I get that as members we spend more money and should get some perks, but i can care less if someone gets to try the reserve/hoarders beers on tap. I get from the thread that @JoshBeerNow is a good guy, just some of his posts, (and others for that matter) just seem a little too whiny some times. Maybe thats just me. I didnt mean to single out josh , just his quotes were the easiest to find since hes a very active poster in this thread .

Option to join. PS is given a window to join after hs and rs renewals but before the general public

Access to tasters is part of the membership. It's a fact of life and some people are obviously more giving with their tasters than others. RS and HS pours are limited beers so even at a taster size, kegs of these whales will blow pretty fast and the people that didn't pay thrthe price of admission will be the ones drinking the majority of them and that just isn't cool.

Yes, you are able to join prior to the general public. I joined PS 4th quarter of 2014 (to get my Black Tuesday) and then was offered the ability to join RS.

Here's all I'll say and I'll leave this alone. Most of us I think would happily share some pours with our friends, fellow BAers or RS members trying to get HS beers. Were all part of the same group and for the most part, we have all paid into the system. That being said, and I've said this already, there is a difference between offering up some pours here and there vs the general public. People buy into this system for the access to it. Why would you want to degrade the benefit you have for other people to get to try your beers? If they wanted to try then they can pony up the money too or they can ask their friends to get them a pour.

Or you can just become friends with someone who has the goods and I'm sure they will pop all the whalez you can drink. God knows if I show up to a party I bring the goods and I almost force my good beer on people as I want as many people as possible to try it. That being said, that is from MY collection, and not the SHARED beer.

They get the OFFER to join and if it sales out before the exclusive buying period sales out, they are out of luck just like the general public.

I wonder what might happen if every HS/RS member rejoined though, which I think would be highly unlikely.

Each time I travel to the tasting room I do let friends know (friends that aren't members). We usually sit there for a few hours drinking under my RS card. Now the plan I had did work, 2 of them joined PS the instant it opened up as available this year.

But I do share the wealth every so often. Much like Josh I let people know when I am there and if they want a RS pour then just to come find me, but also much like Josh..aside from my friends it very rarely happens. Their loss I suppose.
