It rained a ton until about 4 o'clock, and then most of the booths were completely out of beer by 5. Wasn't the best beer fest ever, but it was a good time nonetheless. They also had a promotion going on with Uber, so we got rides there and back for about 7 bucks, that was really nice.

The rain did "dampen" things a bit(more for my wife than me) but all in all I thought it was a good time. Disappointing to see so many breweries run out so early but still managed to try a lot of great sours.

I think it would have been a bit better if they had tents on each side of the street and the middle open vs. just one long tent. A good friend of mine who actually lives right above the Upland tap room in Broad Ripple said he thought they allowed too many VIPs .

At least it was warm out...it was a fine time, tried a lot of good beers. Rain made it pretty miserable for the first couple hours, my wife was especially displeased, said she is done with outdoor beerfests. Between this and DLD, she said, "why would I do this when I can sit warm on my own couch in PJs and drink Chocolate Rain!?"

With the tables so crammed together, and the rain forcing everybody to try and hide under the tents, it was often difficult to figure out which brewery was pouring where. Further, the complete lack of awareness that most people there had boggles my mind. So many times, we waited in long lines only to get to 2nd in line and then wait for too long as the person/people ahead of us stood there and BS'ed with those pouring (or just stood there and started drinking their beers). Ended up hanging out where they were pouring Crooked Stave for a while, had a few of their beers multiple times. Have to say, didn't live up to the hype. On the whole, had many good beers, also had a few drain pours. Literally poured them down the storm drain haha.

Left about 4:30, I was completely drenched and tired of feeling that way.

Definitely a more well organized event than DLD, but the rain still ruined things to a degree. I wish they would've had more tents for standing around so everyone didn't crowd into the brewery areas when it poured, but I feel the event would have run more smoothly if we had a better day. That's the chance you take with outdoor fests.

Very disappointed Upland didn't bring any of their new stuff, but all in all, there were good beers and complete literal drain pours which seems to happen every year. Was very excited to have Wicked Weed there and I think the Tinman cherry may have been my favorite beer of the fest.

Wicked Weed lasted for what 1 hour? That was quite disappointing. Outside of Boston Beer not showing up Wicked Weed appeared to be the first brewery that was cashed. SMH

I went last year since I had the Barrel Society. Upland pretty much had all their lambics ready to be open and poured. Goose Island last year only brought 2-4 bottles of each Sister and were done pretty much within the hour of opening to the public. Bring your tums and B12 because sour drunk is a very weird drunk. Enjoy!

Upland's Strawberry Lambic stole the show for me. Absolutely fantastic stuff! Crooked Stave's offerings were a bit disappointing, and I love that they were the only brewery not to send people to pour...LAME. Except for Boston Beer Company, who didn't bother to show up at all, leaving an empty table in the middle of the tent. What happened there? One of my "never heard of this brewery" suprises was Barley Island's Bernie and the Bretts. Very tasty!! The after party in the catacombs was a blast! Great music and more beer! Overall I had a great time, despite the rain. Would definitely go again.

^glad to see the DJ get some love. Thought he killed it and it was definitely nice to have some soul/funk classics as the soundtrack... Something I wish was more commonplace at beer fests.

The rain was a bummer of course, but thought it was still a pretty decent fest. Went through the Wicked Weed line once and loved Red Angel but was fine camping out near Sour Note and Destihl, had lots of tasty stuff from those two. Also, odd to say this was a surprise, but I came away with a renewed appreciation of New Belgium's sour program. Still coming correct after all these years.

The rain did suck despite my umbrella. Every time I lowered it to get inside the tent a stream of rain poured from the tent onto my back so still became fairly wet. There were tents in the square where you could just stand under, but wasn't close to the beer.

Went through the Wicked Weed line 3x. Agree Red Angel was excellant. Sour Note's Dark Journey was very good as well.
Was also impressed with Black Acre especially the Berliner Weiss. I thought the most unique beer was New Belgium's coffee sour-somehow it worked.

@jmarsh123 Not sure what "new" beers from Upland you were referring, but they did pour beers from the Fresh Oak Project, specifically Claussenii and Bruxellensis. Didn't get Lambicus.

    Agreed! Strawberry Lambic was FANTASTIC!

    Other favorites:

La Folie - Always one of my favorites.
    Blueberry Lambic - 5*
The 3 Offerings by Sun King - Cherry Busey was my favorite of the 3 but La Creme and Pink Taco were solid as well
Flat 12 Sometimes Dead is Better
Sour Note Flanders Red Ale - By the time I made it over there this was the only Sour Note offering left.
Country Boy Warehouse Experiment #3 - I thought this was really good.

I was disappointed in Brugge's offerings as they always have excellent sours. But Madeline and Mysterio just didn't do much for me.

My least favorite thing I had was Daredevil's Lift Off Brett Experiment. It was the 1st thing I had and it was not good. Love Lift Off hated this beer.

The "new stuff" wasn't offered to the GA crowd. You may have had it at the VIP portion or if in the SBS then the after-party but the recent offerings in the latest lottery along with the 4 bottles for SBS members only were not poured during the GA portion of the event.

Well, I had a GA ticket only, and didn't go to the after-party. These were poured at the Upland table under the tent. They were poured late in the fest, probably around 5PM or so.

I'll take your word for it but I was right there by the tent from about 5 until close. I didn't get any! Good for you! Cheers!
