I have status on delta so I can check two items for free..I usually check a styro 12 shipper and a suitcase with several bubble wine skins for bombers...both have worked flawlessly for me thus far...no breakage lots of TSA inspection fliers though

I always check luggage, I'd rather do that than check a 12-shipper if I can.

This. Back when I travelled more for work, I considered wallpapering at least a small bedroom with those fliers.

This. I have a couple of 12 bottle shippers that I use typically. Have never had a problem at all (make sure to remember to stick a roll of tape inside one when you're packing them to go with you), though also have had many, many TSA flyers and one of the boxes is covered in TSA tape now.

If its only a couple of bottles I just stick them inside my normal suitcase and check that. Shipping a shipper would work, but I usually don't want to bother with the hassle (and I also get free bags). If its the bag fees, there are credit cards you can get that allow you to have free bags, many of which are decent credit cards to have anyway. But that probably doesn't help if your flight is in the next week or two.

Pizza boy still had all three sours left but numbers are dwindling. Black seems most abundant, looked like maybe fifty cases total left on the floor

Does that mean you don't seal it before getting to the airport??

Also, it will cost the same for me to ship vs checking a box. ~$25 either way. So where can I buy a 12 shipper? Never actually purchased one.

Thanks to all for the help. Trying to bring back some Jester King from Austin.

@jawas @UcDru - 50lbs of Gose (collectively) is heading y'alls way! (I may have over packed. It looks like I shipped bricks of drugs to yall.)

#VBS! This was shocking. I enjoyed golden monkey the one time I had it, despite not being huge on tripels. I thought white monkey was very underwhelming. Wasn't sure what to expect of this. There was good head that faded before I could snap the picture. This beer is pretty sour, but I also get the aftertaste from the golden monkey base. I'm honestly surprised at how drinkable this is, and I'm definitely going to pick up a couple more bottles of this I think. At 11.50 near me (though I've heard you can get it for $9 at the brewery) this is a steal. It also masks the 9.5% abv ridiculously well

Also, it was a good beer to open to start assigning targets... I have quite a few targets figured out already, I think I'll be pretty on target with being able to get targets out tomorrow if I don't run into any road blocks

I was talking about when you're going somewhere with empty shippers planning on picking up beer to put in them, make sure to stick a roll of tape inside the box so you tape it closed on the way home. I usually have multiple rolls of tape around the house (though last time I was lazy and didn't feel like opening a new roll so pulled off tape strips off the tape roll to tape the box, then stuck the roll of tape in the box and taped it shut). When coming home I keep the tape in my carryon just in case I have to unbox and at the airport and re-box. Its never happened yet, but I don't want to consider the alternative of trying to find tape at the airport...

Buying a single 12 shipper can be patience-trying at times. I usually call around to beer stores until I find a store that sells them. If there's a uhaul store in the area they sometimes have them as well. Keep in mind that they'll be called wine shippers, not beer shippers...

My whole foods once was kind enough to let me take one home because they were throwing a few away, if I figured out what day of the week their wine shipments came in I could probably do that again.

Also I should mention this... to everyone who signed up for the soon to begin round of the locals... if you expressed interest in sticking to the maximum in any way (either outright stating it or saying you would most likely be sticking to it), I did get enough entries to be able to make those matchings, so I will be doing it. I haven't assigned targets within that yet, but didn't see any potential roadblocks at a first glance.

That's where I got it, was $11.50... though it rang up as Deep Cocoa (which is also what it was labeled as on the shelf...?)

Actually you're right, I was thinking of the other beer I bought that trip.

I'm surprised that they get wine like that. Most wine comes in cardboard boxes with inserts (mostly like beer does) since they don't go through normal shipping channels. Using wine boxes with styro inserts is hugely inefficient for single shipments.

Cantillon Mamouche bottles for in house consumption at a place in Lancaster, it's times like these I miss being able to take off on a whim to chase some beer. :slight_frown:

Agreed, but their inefficiency is my free styro shipper, so far be it from me....

FWIW they don't sell wine except by the pour, so the low quantity may contribute.
