I am not a member of this forum but just came across it trying to find updates on my the UPS derailment situation.

I don't think you will have to replace any packages. I don't think it was a UPS train that derailed, from what I understand it is a BNSF train and spilled freight includes designer handbags, shoes, batteries and canoes. When I track my package I have an exception for train derailment but it left Hodgkins, IL on July 17 at 9:05 am. The Billings Gazette on their website reported the derailment on the same day at 5:57 pm. I don't think the train could have made the 1100 mile journey in 9 hours.

I've seen pics of the accident on Billings Gazette's website and from what I can see none of the cars say UPS on them (not that it means it can't be a UPS car). I think UPS should be more clear and let people know that this a delay because of a derailment not that your package was involved in a derailment.

I would imagine they stopped the other trains instead of allowing them all to derail one after another.

Ahh, that does indeed appear to be the case. I called UPS again and this time they stated the package was on it's way again (and I just checked the tracking and it is indeed on its way). I made this thread after calling UPS yesterday and THAT operator only mentioned a train derailed and they didn't know the status of my package, failing to mention that the UPS train wasn't involved. Sorry for the confusion everyone.

Joe (sukwonee) - I never intended this to be a call out thread in the least (if you took it that way I apologize) and you've been nothing but a stand up guy about the issue which appears resolved due to my getting misinformation from a UPS representative.

    Cheers all.

Someone created this thread, I think you should worry about the feelings of the person whose thread you derailed rather than worrying about an opinion you feel a need to express.

I'm also receiving a package from Joe that got caught in the train derailment thing.
The package should be delivered to me on Monday according to UPS' website so all appears to be well with mine and hopefully everyone else's
    Looking forward to the beer!

Ugh, just had a package that was delayed by a derailment. What is the average delay from everyone that has had to deal with these in the past.
