I know what I tasted. Cans that were less than a week old back in November were terrible. It was better when I had a few cans (also around a week old) in early February. 3/24 cans were great, and back to what I remember from July last year.

Love this beer. But.... Had one at a local bar and it wasn't all that to be honest . I'm going to buy some fresh and revisit, it's been gone for a bit without a drive to Charlotte.

Had a 3/16 HDR last week and thought it was solid. No complaints here.

Had a 3-16 last nite, it's become a malty mess of a beer, so little hop presence, the beer continues to get darker and darker each time I open 1, had a February can the beginning of March and it was better than the 3-16 can.

Not sure what the deal is, but it's not the same beer from last year.

I had a 3/24 can last night and noticed the odd maltiness people are talking about. Definitely wasn't diacetyl but it was very caramely sweet. The hops were there but the malt flavor stood out most. I don't know what's happening. I had several 3/16 cans last week that I thought were great, yet the person above says they taste the maltiness in that batch. I guess theoretically, they could have been two different batches canned on the same day. Who knows.

I know oxidation can cause pronounced malt flavors and darkening. Not sure if that's the issue with the cans. Again, I've never seen these issues on draft. Hopefully NoDa is able to figure this out soon. Maybe the move to the new brewhouse/canning line will help with consistency.

Anyone try the 4/14 batch that is out now?

I had a couple from the 4/14 batch tonight. I enjoyed them more than usual, but I am still not a huge fan.

Appears that Noda has heard the complaints. Good for them on doing what they can. As they work through their problems, other locals canning (Birdsong/Triple C) should learn from Noda's issues. I bought a 4 pack of Triple C 3C and it was way under-carbed (tasted right but almost flat). Looks like everyone is having growing pains.

Glad to see them publicly acknowledge the issues and make moves to fix them. I hope Triple C and Birdsong are able to learn from this as well. That first batch of 3C IPA in the cans was perfect but the others I've tasted have been slightly off.

I know Triple C and Birdsong have their own lines but based on issues I've seen with other regional canned beers (Coast, etc...) it sounds like part of the problem might be the mobile canning line these breweries are using.

Now that you mention it, the Hop Art I had back in February was a malt bomb as well. I had no idea they used the same mobile canning line. Who else uses them?

Not sure on clients other than NoDa but I have read a lot of NC and SC breweries are using them. I know I saw on the forums here that Coast was using them as well, but I can't be 100% sure on that.

That's from last October, and I think they've added a few more clients since that time.

from my experiences.. they have always been different. My folks used to live in CLT so I have had many fresh. every other batch or so alters IMO.

Drinking a 4/9 canning, it's a complete mess of a beer. Without a date I'd assume this beer to be 8 months old, obviously over malty, and any fruit is gone. Nose is a mess too. Foothills IPA of the Month blows this crap away, and I shipped some out of state. I won't be doing this again until it's right again.

Drank one last night. Canned 5/28. Was on point. Body looked clearer, but it was one of the first fresh ones I've had in a while. I assume that's due to the centrifuge? Maybe something else?

I bought a 4 pack canned 5/25 and it is total poo. Zero hop aroma and tastes like bad home brewed IPA. I poured the second one out. I honest-to-god washed it down with my own bad home brewed IPA to get rid of the taste. :grimacing: I don't have the "off-flavor" palette some of y'all have to know what is wrong with it.

I have an email out to Susie (owner) to see what they say. I got a couple 4 packs canned the week before (5/18 or 5/19) and it was great and had on draft at the Knights game Friday night and it was great.

Bought two 4 packs at the brewery can't read the date of brewing though 5/21 or so. Hope it's good.

I was in town a couple weekends back (24th) and also purchased from the brewery with a 5/21 canned date. This is good still but nothing like the outstanding cans I had last year (July). Also had some fresh cans over the Winter that was pretty good too. As others have mentioned, if not for the date and picking up directly from the brewery I would have guessed this had been sitting on a shelf for a bit. Something has definitely been altered but I cannot pick up on what. This was much more resinous...
