The Locals HINTS AND HAULS THREAD

So I have to do this as a VBS -- last round (The Anti-Circle Jerk round) my sender was @HoppySeb . And as I usually do, I drank the hoppy stuff first, but then the rest sort of ended up with all the rest of the beer in my cellar or fridge. So today, I decided to see if I had "drink soon" in the "comments" column of my beer inventory spreadsheet (yeah, I know you are all surprised I have one of those). And I saw something he had sent me listed there -- Lost Abbey Track #8.

So... I decided to try it, and had mixed feelings, because I know Seb put a lot of thought and effort into sending me this, and I figured it might be wasted on me -- I might have waited to long to drink it. Plus I don't normally like Quads that much. And I'm not a big bourbon barrel fan. And I don't really like Cinnamon flavor in my beers, nor am I as into spicy/chile type stuff as most of you guys. And this is all of the above.

And it was AMAZING! I couldn't believe how much I liked it -- figured I would nurse it pretty much all night, now I don't know how long it will last me. I don't know if my palate has just changed, or if the "waiting too long" offset some of the strong flavors that normally don't thrill me, but this is delicious -- if they made this into a candy bar and covered it with chocolate, it would be perfect.

And the fact that I correctly solved the math problem on the back in my head (even though I could have guessed the answer) made it even better.

Brother, I wouldn't even post it here. I'm too much of a nice guy. But I would love to know the root behind this video.

 

I'm pretty big into board/card games (well... and video games). Never got into any other tabletop stuff (D&D, miniatures, etc). However, if you've played a lot and haven't played Catan, it's probably skippable at this point. It's still very fun to go back to, but it's basically a "gateway" game into more complex board games. Don't get me wrong, at the gaming convention I go to each year, I always drunkedly sit down with a bunch of strangers and attempt to own them at Catan (sometimes successfully, sometimes not), but otherwise I usually pass for other games unless someone else decides they want to play

Maybe you nerds will be the way that I finally get into tabletop. Before switching from "craft drinker" to "beer is my hobby" I considered trying out D&D, but the idea of a regularly recurring night out of the house was too much of a commitment.

I actually attempted to get in on D&D campaigns on.... 4 occasions in my life? Each one (barring one that fell apart for its own reasons) ended up not happening after the 2nd meeting or so because getting everyone together was impossible

In hindsight, I don't think it was really for me anyway, but still would have been fun at the time.

 

Just wanted to let my cheeseheads know that we have a closet cheesehead that poses as a bears. He comes in hear, makes his little comments and leaves. He even has the audacity to change posts and profiles! Let me know if my avatar and the photo that @Ncpogs uses for his avatar have anything in common. Maybe @blue-dream knows

 

Nick, I am damn proud of this picture and was more than willing to showcase how I was able to shake hands with a great BA/Bears fan.

Btw, didn't mention this the other day, but I was severely disappointed when I met @rspauldi and found out he walks on two legs like the rest of us. Was really expecting a centaur... (he and his wife were some of the nicest people I've met in my travels however.)

 

You may have THOUGHT he was a bears fan.

I play D&D(well, Pathfinder, but same core) every other Friday. Our group has been going for about 6 years... Sadly, they are not beer drinkers.

To swell my nerddom, I also play toy soldiers. (WH40k)

I used to be a big Magic player, but who can sustain that kind of cost & buy high end beer?

 

Forgive my ignorance.. but what the heck is D&D and all that? I'm nosey...

 

Non beer stuff. Unless you drink beer while pretending to be short and talking like a Scotsman.
