I get the same feeling when having a fountain pop versus out of a bottle or can.

The answer is yes, drinking athe brewery does influence how your beer tastes, and it is not an opinion.

Here me out. Your environment affects how you perceive intoxication, which then influences your perception of taste.

Second, if you are drinking from the tap lines at the brewery, then the beer you are drinking is much more likely to be more fresh than through other channels where you'd be drinking it. Freshness has a direct, tangible impact on the taste of beer.

So yes, drinking at the brewery influences your taste, but does it make it better? That part is subjective. An enjoyable drinking experience is contingent upon many factors: mood (which can be affected by who you are with, servers, the beer you are drinking), the environment, and a host of other factors not specific to being at a brewery, so I don't think anyone can say that drinking at a brewery automatically makes a beer better when there are so many variables involved just judging by a brewery-to-brewery basis and not even considering other environments. If someone wants to say, that they tend to enjoy themselves more when drinking at a brewery, then they aren't wrong though. People should definitely be cognizant of positive patterns in their lives.

I think it influences the subjective experience. While I have some pretty bad beers at the source, I had had some beers that I thought were pretty good because I was enjoying the tour and event. Been a few why did I buy this moments as a result. Bad seems to be bad no mater what, but for me the middling beers have gotten an occasional boost due to the environment factor.

Figueroa mountain tasting room in Santa barbara + lucky penny pizza is heaven.

Never enjoy their beers as much as I do there

It doesn't influence the taste nearly as much as it influences the experience of drinking the beer.

Sometimes it's worse...your expectations of it being better can be a big let down.

I 100% agree with you on Storm King. Next time you are at the brewpub, try it from nitro. IMO it cuts down on the strong hop presence and give is a smoother drinking texture.

I will! Actually, I might make the trip just for a Growler of Headwaters and Uncle Teddy's.

I love Uncle Teddy's, but am surprised it's been on for as long as it has. Personally, I'd rather have Hop Wallop taking that tap space.

I think it does in general. I have been honest with a few brewers at their breweries and they seem shocked that I am critical of some of their beers when they ask what I think. Seems like the average patron is just happy to be there.

I try to drink at breweries when I can because I like the vibe and you can't beat the freshness factor.

I went to several local breweries on my birthday a couple of weeks ago. At one of them, I got there just as they were starting a tour. My friends and I jumped in. When we got toward the end the guy running the tour was showing us the bright tank where their latest batch of an IPL was being finished. He stuck a pigtail on the valve and gave out a large free sample to anyone that wanted to try it. It was fantastic. So yeah, there is something a little special to me about drinking at the brewery.

Always try not to let anything influence my tastes but I've found your mood plays a major role. If I taste something when I'm not in a good mood, my opinion of it generally isn't as favorable. So if the brewery/tap room is awesome, it will probably influence my opinion.
