So a friend of mine wants to try my bottle of Hunaphu's Stout, and is willing to purchase a local bottle (Boston area) that's in the same price range to share. Yes, I know one is much harder to get but I'm being nice.

What's your recommendation for a beer that is very good, tends to sit around on the shelves, but you don't usually buy cause it's somewhat $$$? Could be stouts, sours, pretty much anything. My local stores get a decent selection of big Belgian bottles, for instance, as well as things like Cascade and Anchorage. What are your picks?

I've seen some de Cam around for $30, that would be a good choice. Hanssens Scarenbecca Kriek? Maybe Eclipse?

Any Cascade. Drie Fonteinen. Even Speedway Stout comes to mind (I wish I could have that in the house all times, but pricey). Maybe even Enlightenment saisons...

Some Italian sours from LoverBeer, Del Ducato or Baladin are pretty pricey and damn good and somewhat available. Also Boulevard Love Child just came out and is a great, but pricey beer.

I'd recommend Rodenbach Caractere Rouge if you've never had it. $25-30 and can still be found on shelves here and there. Also, my personal favorite sour, which may be a bit harder to find is Pechish Woods by Cisco. A beer that definitely doesn't get enough recognition (which means more for me!).

I eyed both of those at my local store today, might have to check them out!

So after you either do or don't buy the pechish, could you BM me where you spotted it? I'm down to 2 bottles and I could definitely use a few more. I'd highly recommend it though. It's the perfect summer beer and the last batch was much more tart than previous versions, and the ratings reflect improvement.

Grand Cru from North Coast. Comes in 500ml rather than 750 as I recall but still costly per ounce.

Some of the quarterly offerings from Brooklyn depending on the given style.

Curieux sits around in some places.

Rodenbach vintage 2012 was nice. Maybe some of the Allagash stuff?

Where is de cam regularly available in greater boson area? Haven't really searched that hard, but I'll always grab some if I see it....
