It was expensive. Not going again this year. I'd rather head out to the centreville or leesburg beer tests

Last year I went with a big group of people, we did the Kraken package, all shared what we were sampling, and we had a bunch of tickets left over. I thought it was pricey but one of the best beer events I've been to. I already grabbed my ticket for this year.

Just purchased my Kracken VIP pass. The cost isn't an issue, I just want to make sure I can try as many rare beers as possible before the crowds come at 1PM.

I guess I had a heck of a lot more to drink than I thought! Tried all the biggies from The Bruery, Perennial (that BA Sump was fantastic), etc.... but passed on the sours (just not my preference) and don't remember spending all that much. I don't mind spending money on an event... but I'm definitely that guy who has to think I'm "winning" on the value side and I just don't recall being upset after this event.

I believe all the folks who've corrected me on pricing... but I just don't recall spending $12 (12 tix) on 6 oz pours of Chocolate Rain, BA Abraxas, etc. Clearly my $1/oz comment was off-base, as that would make a 750ml of CR $25... and that's definitely not the case.

Nevertheless, tickets in hand and looking forward to a dry, cool, slightly overcast day! :-)

You pay for what you get. There is a lot of effort that goes into putting together a beer list like snally had last year. The other vanilla beer fests in the area just get what ever the distributors have available at the time. You might have a slight chance of seeing something new from a local brewery otherwise it is the same old stuff every year. They are usually over crowded also with a larger chance of a meat head crowd due to the lower cost.

I thought the early entry ticket was worth it and just bought them again for this year. There were long lines for 3 beers that kicked quick besides that there were little to no lines for the rest of the early entry. I was able to try the majority of what I wanted before it got really crowded. By the time I left around 4pm it was overcrowed and bathroom lines were getting bad so that extra time was well worth it. I would not go if I didn't get in early. It is expensive but I see it as a once a year thing so I am willing to drop more money than I normally would.

In the past, has anyone here purchased the VIP ticket, but had someone with you buy the DD/GA ticket? Are they able to go in with you at the same time as the VIPs?

No, the only thing VIP gets you is early admission, so they couldn't let GA in with VIP, it would defeat the purpose of VIP.

It also seems to defeat the purpose of a designated driver.

Last year was fantastic (until it poured down rain, then it stopped, and the humidity was like 200%). If you saw a guy stumbling around with fogged up glasses, it was me

Looking forward to this year! We did VIP again

The Avery list is complete, but I don't want to spoil the rest. That'll be the East Coast debut of Avery 22, a Brett American Wild. See you all there!

Damn, that beer sounds awesome, I was really hoping we'd see bottles of it sometime in the next few weeks.

It's still a bit out, but it's definitely coming. I get to try it in a few weeks, I can't wait!
