What beer are you drinking now? #974

Hey hey hey BA's! Just after 2:30 here in balmy, thick NOVA & I've got a brand new brew that I'm workin' through today. So here's the deal, my wonderful & artistic GF has the camera for the day so I'm reduced to posting this:

I like the label, clearly hand-drawn, colored pencil, awesome. Oh yeah & the brew is awesome too :-)

I'd like to take a moment to wish all you fathers out there a fantastic Father's Day. It is one of the hardest, but most rewarding undertakings a man could ever hope for.

Now then, tunes. Dunno why, but this is where I'm at right now:


If I get that camera back, I fully expect to get some goodies posted at some point today. Until then & as always- Drink up & drink on, my fellow advocates!

Was going to cut the grass, but my 8 year old lawn mower died (damn), so I'm having a Gaffel Kolsch...happy Father's Day to me!!!

The guys at Country Boy definitely take pride in the Appalachain region, and many of their beers are named accordingly. While this area isn't an oil stronghold, it does have a long and rich history in terms of coal and coal mining. One could argue that Appalachia is the last frontier for black gold in terms of internal sustainability. We use it not only for petrolium, but to heat our homes in the winter, keep out lights on, and to keep our water warm.

This support, plus the fact that they're all awesome guys, plus the fact that all of their BA beers kick ass, make them my favorite brewery.

 

So is that a non official lawnmower beer? And crap, it's going to take you a while to cut the lawn with scisssors !

Since the weather is much better than expected, I encouraged my wife to take the kids to the pool to burn some energy. She said she'd give me some "quiet time". So, nobody in the house. All by myself. Nothing to do. So, I decided to get a little crazy and.....

Mow the lawn.

It's wet out there, but sunny. Hanging on the mower for an hour or so is just relaxing. And, its the only time I would encourage and appreciate drinking and driving.

Brew Dog Tokio. This Scottish stout is way too expensive and way too boozy, but has an interesting and pleasing taste. The problem is, if I were to have another, I might be tempted to paint my face blue and go out to fight "Proud Edward's Army." It's a good beer to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Bannockburn.

 

Second one today is spectacularly fun.

 

After groceries, stopped at SoMe Brewing and picked up Denthead, which turned out to be a decent hefe.
I'm home and watching golf, which is where I'll be for the next several hours. Ugly looking course, great golf.

 

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, and happy summer solstice! Just got back from brunch and getting ready to see if the Mariners can manage to sweep the Astros, now enjoying Single Barrel Sour #1 from Epic Ales here in Seattle. Only 16 cases bottled (192 bottles), this is an American Wild Ale made with a wheat and barley base with vanilla beans and orange blossoms, then aged in a red wine French oak barrel. Cheers!
