But the kicker here is that you need to supply an invoice and description of the goods. Still think it will pay off 100 fold?

Trust me I know...............at least with Fed Ex. It's right on the claims form to attach an invoice/support for the cost.

Conceptually you're totally right, but I'm optimistic that it's at least worth trying. For small dollar amounts it may be worth it to FedEx to approve the claim despite it being past their point of responsibility, from a customer service standpoint. Worst case is they deny your claim, right?

*100-fold the cost of insurance; it costs $2.90 for $300 worth of coverage, for example.

And yes, it's worth it; my company makes very nice invoices for the artisan marinades I sell. It is also worth noting that if the claim amount is under $100, no invoice is required.

Just got the call from our receiving department that I have two large boxes that just came in, will go grab them and get them open as soon as I can get away for lunch.

Isn't coverage up to $100 free anyway?

I have had this happen to someone I sent to. FedEx delivered it to the wrong porch and a neighbor ended up bringing it by.

Yes, if it's an inexpensive box it makes the whole process much easier. If it's a big box though, odds are it's over $100 worth and (imo) is well worth the couple bucks for extra coverage.

To Mike, everyone else ignore this: If you were questioning my $cost/$coverage, $300 coverage is only $200 extra coverage, but since $500 coverage is around $5, and $1000 coverage is around $10, I figure my "$1/$100 covered" made sense with them comp'ing you the first $1, rather than skewing the numbers by using $100 less than the coverage amount.

My target is receiving two boxes today, totally around 50 lbs.

I rushed to get those out lest I miss the shipping window, but my target should know very clearly: THE PORCH IS NOT YET SAFE. More to come.

Wait, so if you just call someone out as your sender, they'll send you beer, regardless if you're right or wrong?

No, I was good with your numbers, was confused by your "It is also worth noting that if the claim amount is under $100, no invoice is required."

Oh. The coverage is free up to $100, but when submitting a claim, if the claim amount (how much they cut a check for) is $100+ they require an invoice to prove value. If the claim amount is <$100, they do not require the invoice, they just pay you (assuming the claim is approved).

I have not yet figured out if that includes the shipping amount being reimbursed or not (ie if you claim $99 of the $100, does it negate needing the invoice, or would you need to claim even less than that because the shipping cost reimbursement will take you over $100)

I definitely led you on a little bit. I felt bad and wanted to send my first ninja box. Enjoy! Thanks @Dave_Treat for helping me out with the address.

Good news everyone, replacement box is on its way to @vitaminvert with the beers that broke. Couldn't just send two bottles, so there is an additional 68 ounces of extras for his trouble
