I had decided to fire up the grill a little early tonight.

    Good thing I did...

We're fixing to get hammered! Speaking of hammered...

We watched most of the storm from the garage while drinking this monster (among others). An enjoyable evening if I do say so.

    Cheers!

Sang some karaoke and received a free Budweiser, courtesy of a lovely Budweiser girl.

Your softball team and baseball team are both better than mine :slight_frown:. Plus I hear you might or might not be getting a wonderful beer soon (shhhh, don't ask me how I know :sunglasses:). What am I doing wrong?

Homebrew club meeting tonight. Got to taste the barrel aged German Marzen, along with many other styles as usual. The marzen was clean and balanced between malt and barrel flavors; but had a slightly tart note from something wild in the barrel though. We are going to get a new supplier for a fresh barrel next time, because we have not been able to use a freshly dumped one as of recently. Someone made a chipotle pepper saison which was notable. The nose was huge on fresh spicy pepper notes, but the taste was mellow with minimal heat and some lighter fresh pepper flesh flavors; and standard saison fruitiness/spice and wheat malt flavors. Really well done.

    Reviews:

Nice session IPA. Dense lacing and a lasting head through the whole glass. Aromas and flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, and light pine; with some moderate light caramel/toasted bread/spicy rye malts and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Balanced amount of piney/spicy bitterness on the finish; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel. A well made session IPA. A bit more towards a balanced profile overall with good flavor robustness. Pleasant and smooth.

A very good wild ale, more reminiscent of a Belgian amber overall. Aromas and flavors of lightly tart cherry, green apple, lemon, plum, pear, brown sugar, toast, biscuit, hay, straw, light funk, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity tartness and earthy yeast spice on the finish. Well balanced malt and fruity/funky yeast flavors with balanced tartness as well. Very smooth and balanced acidic mouthfeel on the finish; with some light creamy breadiness. Medium carb/body. Really tasty overall. Has some nice prominence of wild lactic/funky notes but also feels balanced against a Belgian amber ale with bready malts and some spiciness present from abbey yeast. This one grew on me over the full glass for sure. Really enjoyable.

Damn nice spiced stout, English styled as expected with my last few stouts/brown ales from Hideout. Aromas and flavors of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, and cinnamon; with some restrained yeast fruitiness of plum and apple. Big robust and creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth and easy drinking as expected of 5.6%. English yeast provides plenty of mouthfeel and flavors; while not being overwhelming to the overall stout and spice profile. Extremely well balanced malt/spice flavors. Really impressive!

Pretty good flavors; thin mouthfeel. Not bad. Forgot I had it but somehow it made it to the front of the fridge. :grinning:

@Rootscipio hooked me up with this here Deep Ellum Dream Crusher Double IPA! For dinner I threw together a bunch of random stuff: crumbled ground up spicy italian sausage over white rice, tomato salad, smoked pork ribs, and garlic and herb crackers. Time to eat!

    Tyranena's Balling the Queen.
Bought a four pack, gave away two to friends, ended up drinking my other two within hours of buying it.
Maybe some Banging Gavels Chicanery later.
    Can't stop drinking that one.
