I still think silent releases are the way to go. It puts everyone outside of Austin at a disadvantage but who cares? It's not like their more popular beers won't still sell out and it will reward the locals and regulars more than the out of towners and their mules.

I say this as an "out of towner". It works against me (assuming I went to every release) but its the only way I can think of that would CUT DOWN but not eliminate muling, longer lines, etc.

On the other hand more people and longer lines = more cash.

I'll also admit I don't know the first thing about running a business. I'm sure JK gets tired of listening to all of us arm chair owners of what's best for their business. My opinion is just that, an opinion, and is based off a customers view point more than an owners. I'm sure no matter what they do they'll continue to be successful (rightfully so).

This is the state of craft beer. I think silent releases or at least shorter notice could help. Yes, locals get advantage. As they should.

For the first time, Im considering buying a beer by auction. 9 hours round trip drive(time+gas), plus the wait in line(so hot), probably not on tap by the time I get there. For two bottles between me and my GF. I would spend $100+ to skip that, but still get a couple bottles. Ive made the trip for most every release for the last 1.5 years(traded for Equipose and still looking for this years Detritivore), I would rather make the trip out there when there arent buses, frat bros and grandmas lined up.

Purchase the bottles and enjoy them discreetly on premise on a much more relaxing weekend in the future.

I know I dont 'have' to have this beer, but its a special place for me(and my GF). I wish JK continued success and growth. This would be my life if I had any talent at brewing beer, and access to some land in the Hill Country.

Same here. When I spoke to Jeff today, I told him that I was amazed how they had so many wannabe brewery managers on the internet screaming at them from every direction, trying to tell them how to run their brewery. It's such an entitled position to shout from, as if Jester King owes them something.

A guy in line was telling me how he was pissed he had to drive in from Dallas (I think) to get his one bottle (well, more than that– he brought mules). I told him he didn't have to do anything. And then he criticized Jester King for wanting people to drive in from out of town to get their beer, all the while hypocritically declaring they're trying to do good for the environment. I told him that Jester King has repeatedly said they'd prefer to cater to the local market. When he said something else (which I forgot), and I told him that he should just open his own fucking brewery and run it however he wants. He stopped talking to me after that.

Despite my previous comments about Atrial Rubicite not being our favorite beer and so on, we are immensely flattered by the willingness of people to wait in long lines in the heat to purchase our beer. As I've stated many times over the years on BA, we're just a collection of homebrewers at Jester King trying to do something worthwhile in the beer world, so to see the response for our beer on a day like today is incredibly humbling. Thanks for your continued support. - Jeff

If 1500 people waited in line safely and had a good time, heck yeah that's awesome. Heck I'm not even mad at the guy with the grandma. What I wouldn't given to have a similar chance to spend the day talking about craft beer with any of my grandparents (cus no doubt they woulda asked me a zillion ?'s about this craft beer thing I was in to). Maybe I'm just being overly sentimental but as long as people are having a good time then however it's decided to release the bottles it's just as good as any other method.

It's insane how much joy I get from standing in line, in the heat, hating everyone around me, and walking away with a single 500ml bottle of raspberry perfection. Keep making beer and I'll keep lining up.

I was the last in line... [Que Dio song]

Had pizza and beers from Stanley's ( Maharaja on tap, hell yeah) Atrial and Yellow Rose from the JK tap room, got to shoit the shit with Jody from Which Craft, then got that bottle... A good way to blow off steam after a hard day at work. JK continues to be my "happy place".

    Cheers y'all.

This, there is no solution and quite frankly I'm cool with it. Like everyone else, I would like more, but atrial is the only one like this (so far). When I got in my car and dove down fitzhugh I was a bit peeved and I asked myself why? I still got a beer, sure it's hot, and there are tons of out of towners but I don't have a right to it. If I don't like it I don't have to get it (we all know that's a lie, I need it). I'm calm now and thankful for the experience, lol. At least they're not all moving to austin. Just so everyone knows, I'm not hating on out of towners, you're more than welcome to visit. But don't move here, hah

If my twins were throwing rocks at you in line, I'm sorry. They may have stolen someone's beer too.

Anyway, I was blown away at the amount of people that were there on a Friday night. It usually a real chill day to go. I did overhear several people get in line for "that raspberry stuff" and "Rubicite Atrial". Now, I didn't think anything of it, but my wife was quick to point these people out. You do what you got to do I guess.

Yeah, the line was long at around 9, but after having Blend 5, I'd say this is closer to Blend 1 than any of the previous batches. Well done. Now....where's dat Aurelian?!

Could be worse. You could live out of state. I was hoping for a higher bottle count too, but I'm good with the two we got.
    They're special occasion beers anyway.

There is absolutely no way I would have taken my grandmother out to JK when it is 99 degrees out for a bottle of beer - if she was at the age of the grandmother in that picture. No effin way.

I'm two shades darker because of the Atrial line. Thanks for promoting healthy skin color, Jester King.

I did use the word 'safely' pretty quickly

On the other hand we could force everyone in line to actually wait in line and not wait in cars or under the shade.. (I mean all that in jest..I hope we are not that callous as a crew)
