Ive been peering in the window about every two weeks, on one of my AM walks, and thought they were getting pretty close. If I understand correctly the owner's a builder and it shows--nice looking room.

So you're saying they're open on Sundays only for awhile, sort of an extended soft opening, but it's not family & friends or invite only--I could show up next Sunday at 2PM and get a beer?

Yep soft opening-ish. I just stopped by on a whim myself because a friend told me it looked like there were people drinking on the patio. The taproom is certainly nice. Doesn't look anything like your typical brewery.

yeah looks very 17th Avenue-ish, right? could be Beast & Bottle, if it had a kitchen instead of a brewery...I do not mean that in a pejorative sense at all, either.

Guess I need to try these guys again. My first impression was more "homebrew" than craft.

Anybody know anything about Animas Brewing (http://www.animasbrewing.com) in Durango? Nothing here on BA, and their website/Facebook has more to do with their food than their beer...

They're not that new anymore (opened in April), but I thought I should mention Vail Brewing Co. located near Eagle Vail on Highway 6. The beers are solid for a newish joint and the atmosphere is friendly and lower key than many places in the valley. Plus, it is the closest brewery to Vail Village (an easy 10 minute bike ride down the Gore Creek Path).

Was at Steak and Shake today and as we were leaving, saw Boggy Draw Brewery across the way. Hadn't heard of 5 his one (no surprise; too many to keep track of) so wondering if anyone has been and/or if it's good?We get down that way once a month or so..

I had their Lemon Drop pale and their Grapefruit pale last night at Summer Brew Fest. Both were meh. The people pouring were really nice though.

Answering my own damn question here! Animas is solid! Great food and a line-up of eight of their own beers (right now: a Kolsch, a Brown, a Schwartzbier, a Pale Ale, a Red, an IPA, an Imperial Red, and an Imperial IPA), as well as four Guest taps. For being open less than a year, everything seems dialed in! I dig it!

Dropped by Launch Pad near Buckley AFB. In short, it's large-batch homebrew. Some good, some bad.
You're too close to both Dry Dock locations (and Peak to Peak) to go out of your way for that.

Checked out Rally King in Fort Collins the other day... Their Helles was really tasty, though the brewer said it only ferments for 2 weeks! How is that possible??!?

I wasn't a big fan of the majority of the beer there, but it's a cool spot about a mile down the bike path from me. I'll certainly be returning soon for more of that Helles though!

Check out the brewing network. They have a couple of podcasts about making lagers in just a couple of weeks. Here's a link as well for a webpage about it.

    http://brulosophy.com/methods/lager-method/

According to them there is minimal maybe even all psychological difference in the beer. Sounds like the key is having really good temp control. I haven't given this method a shot yet because homebrewing has been out of commission since I'm in an apartment currently, but would love to try it out. I've only heard good things.

    Cheers,
    Ben

we tried it & our impression was, OK.

I think I'm gonna give them a few months before a return. Ingenious use of space (brewhouse is to left of long cold room, cellar to the right. Stainless piping below the draft set-up moves the wort to hx and fermenter; I thought it was a decorative piece of stainless, a design element, rather than functional, before they pointed it out to me) and nice room, in a busy & walkable restaurant neighborhood, this place may do very well even without impressing beer nerds like me.

We hit the new Breckenridge village....er, brewery....in Littleton last week. Jeepers, it's huge. They did a good job with it, although it's not completely complete I'd almost consider it a must stop (location is a plus and minus).

    Just the toast. Hey-O!

    Kidding...didn't have toast.
Had the Breck IPA, Agave, Summer and their saison. No butter. Wynkoop stuff on tap, too. didn't try those.

Hey Mebuzzard, thanks for stopping in, I hope you enjoyed our new home. We're loving it. How about we grab Domingo and meet at the Brewery for a private tour of our state of the art facility and a few beers, sans buttered toast?

I can do that! @Domingo will, too (I suppose we better ask him, though)
