If I was going to wait until the "correct" day to drink it, I'd buy it as soon as it hit the shelves and refrigerate it on my own to preserve freshness, rather than count on the retailer both having it 6 weeks later, and having kept it cold as the brewery requests.

No reason to wait to drink the beer. It's absolutely fantastic right now and something I'll continue drinking until it (sadly) disappears from shelves...

I meant "wary", and for the exact reason you specified. However, after getting a sixer, I can safely say I'm a fan. SN was wise to ask for a Bavarian brewer to help them with this. The influence is pretty clear to me; in comparison to past attempts by SN to make a Marzen, this is far better. I could drink this beer any day. : )

Looked on the beer finder today. Still no Michigan listings. Toledo is the closest place.

Found 12 packs from Chico bottled and packaged 7/13. Odd that we got it from Chico in NC. I imagine we'll see the Mills River batches soon though.

I am OK with seeing a release of SN Oktoberfest being "early". It means that Celebration Ale is only weeks away.

Saw this hit the shelves already in the SF Bay Area. Debated for about 45 seconds whether or not to pick some up (too soon! Etc) before I came to my senses. It's fantastic-- fresh, crisp, with a malt bill that shines and just a kiss of hops to make it snap. Bravo!

Chico got an earlier start than Mills River did in brewing so all of the initial beer in the market is from Chico. Mills River has lots of beer in the lagering tanks now, and we just had our first bottling late last week, so soon it will be in full supply from both breweries.

Not a huge fan of Oktoberfests generally, but this one is different. I like this one very much, for some reason the yeast character seems far different than normal SN beers. SN is killing it with the lagers recently. The Vienna Lager is amazing again this year. So happy it is back.

This may have already been asked in the forum but will this beer be released in 12 packs by itself or only in the fall sampler? The Oktoberfest....

I bought a sixer. It seems that others have found it in 12s as well. Fall Pack is Vienna Lager, Flipside IPA, Tumbler Brown Ale and Pale ale.

Sampled this at SN last week and just bought a six the other day. Great beer. Don't care if it's still July.
