Do you know prices and limits?

They are $25 per bottle and the limits are based on PA oz per transaction so you can get 7 bottles of any combo per transaction.

Pricy. Anyone know what the bottle count is? It better be low to justify the higher price.

Pretty standard for not only Pizza Boy but fruited sours as well. Low bottle count does not = more expensive.

I know there was a thread a while ago about Pizza Boy being so expensive. Their Golden Sour is something like $35 or more here in central NY. I like Sours and funky brews and understand the labor and time that can be involved with Barrel aging. I just have to think that they might be pushing the upper limits of what they can charge. In the interest of full disclosure I have not had any of their beers so I'm fully willing to eat crow if they are as good as their price point would imply.

Pretty much up there with most fruited sours being released. Low bottle count doesn't equal expensive its the labor and time/effort expended. Also its hard to take statements serious when you haven't tried the beer. It comes off as trollish.

Which is all fine and dandy. I just dont know why you would think low bottle count would justify a high price thats all. Look how inexpensive TG's stouts are.

It's merely a supply and demand question. When supply is low and the perceived quality is high, demand will be high and price should follow. Economics 101. Trolling would be poo pooing it having never tried it. I did say that I understand the time investment involved on the brewery side. You Brew a beer and have it sit for months, if not years in Barrels before having the oportunity to sell it. All that time and materials you have already invested has to be put on hold. That is precisely why it is so expensive. I was making commentary on the Golden Sour singularly. Case in point: Prairie Artisan Ales Prairie Gold. Golden Sour Ale at $12ish for a 500ml bottle. Its very good and there is a lot available in my area. My Almanac Dogpatch Sour was $12 for a 375ml bottle, so right in the price range when the volumes are equal. Again, just commentary. I'd be interested in trying the Pizza Boy beers.

Just starting to get into sours and have 1x of each pizza boy coming. How do you guys think PB matches up to other notable sour's / breweries known for the Sours they produce?

Which am wilds have you have had before? Considering the head brewer at PB is widely known for wilds/saisons I'd say they match up well.

Mostly the RR sours so far, have held off on others due to price and trying to get more info to make some good buys. Seems their isn't a lot locally that I've seen so far.

I have had Blackberry and Raspberry and enjoyed both of them. I liked Blackberry a bit more. I wish that both had a bit more wine barrel character but that is a minor complaint. I would say that they match up very well with sours from places like Almanac and CCB.

I believe they said 600 bottles of the Funky Applesauce and 1000 of the Mango Sourer.

This is correct, applesauce is a little over 600 mango is around 1200 or so not really exact but close.

Personally I have found the PB sours to be hit and miss. Loved the Bluerbon Berry and Abscio Cell(base), Golden Sour was decent, but Apricot and Peach Funkers were terrible. Enjoyed Smurfs Blood Crowley that I had. Not sure on the fruit in that one. I have a Raspberry and Black Sour that I have yet to try.
I would say that for the most part PB is on a similar level as Almanac. Not as good as RR, Side Project, Hill Farmstead or De Garde.
I will say that the Sunny Side Up coffee stout is definitely on point. Looking forward to the BA variant.

Would have to respectfully disagree with your statement that they are not on the level of those other beers. Permasmile and Intangible were up there with most wilds put out today. The Intangible Ales beers fermented with brett also are continuing to impress and show the brewer's versatility and skill. Also a side note it is a shame that black sour has gotten no credit due to the high bottle count, it is very similar to a beer of fame from one of the brewer's previous gigs (ribb it). I guess it is all about one's perception.

Ive been wanting to stop at Pizza Boy for the longest time, with these and BA sunny side up I feel a trip is needed soon. Oh it doesn't hurt that the GF lives about 45 minutes away either :sunglasses:

...but then you have degarde that charges $8-10/750ml with just as much effort going in. sure, you can argue that pizza boy understands the supply/demand dynamic better i guess, but its not all in the production costs of a sour. i also have a shitload more respect for degarde given their commitment to the customers given that they could easily charge 2x or 3x and sell just as much beer.
