I don't mind an ice cold AAL at all. Most IMO are about the same, PBR , Bud, Schlitz, Miller all are decent enough. Like Dave beers I don't like, Coors, Coors light, I hate Bud light. They just have off notes, where the others are kinda innocuous as long as they're cold. The warmer they get the shitter they taste, not very scientific, but I don't think it needs more of an explanation.

Right now my town is experiencing a minor heat wave, and I'm enjoying a Hamm's- Born in the Land of Sky Blue Waters, and 57.6 cents per can. It tastes great too.

Ah well, can't please everybody, but for the record the ones I've gotten have a nice slight noble hop aroma and clean malt background- not a moldy ass in sight, no matter which day . I'll post back if I ever do get some with off flavors, but for now I've been pleasantly surprised.

Sometimes AAL's are just the magnum opus for certain activities...

like sports, bonfires, fishing, shooting, mowing, yardwork, and anything involving a hot day. I'd take a Rolling Rock or Michelob Golden Light ten times over before taking a thick stout or a hop-infused IIPA on a hot day in the sun. Just hits the spot.

You might like organic Almond milk (I do), but it won't work near as well with Steak and Potatoes like Whole or 2% will.

Adjunct breweries that use corn grits or rice need a cereal cooker - an added step requiring extra equipment and labor. For corn to be added directly to the mash tun, it must be in the form of pregelatinized flakes or a specially processed corn syrup made for the brewing industry. It's not the stuff found in the grocery aisle nor is it HFCS (although the industry does use the latter as a post-fermentation sweetener, as noted in that Cargil link). And, of course, some 'dry' sugars are sometimes used, as well.

The use of sugars and syrup adjuncts has long been seen as "cheapening" a beer in the US but it is really simply using a product that has been pre-processed by the producer rather than the brewer. Ultimately, not much different (or more " gauche " ?) than using pelletized hops (widely used and accepted in the "craft" industry) or hop extract.

Maybe @Gutes_Bier will share his thoughts on DAB from drinking this beer in Germany?

    Cheers!

    Very true.
Urine would definitely be worse. Amazing anyone would claim Corona is better than other AALs.

Family party today. Naragansett Lager and Labatt's Blue are the beers I chose. Two 30 packs for $39.

It seems to have disappeared from my stores too, unfortunately. I really like this one.

Caldera Lawnmower Lager often costs less than mega-brewer AAL's when purchased by 6-pack. Sorry, no 30-racks available (yet).

This pretty much sums up what many can't understand. I totally agree. And I do like Almond Milk a lot but in the right spot....same thing with beer..

This silly rationalization for drinking crap AALs has been making regular appearances here for years. It's called the "Lawnmower Beer Excuse". You and everyone else that posts it always use hot weather activities to explain why you still drink lousy beer. You guys always say that AALs are better in those conditions than drinking a heavy stout or double IPA, etc. That's certainly true, but the fallacy of the position is that it ignores the many light and superbly refreshing craft beer options that are ideal in hot weather and also have real flavor to enjoy. The most obvious alternative to crappy AALs are the many excellent craft pilsners. Why would anyone prefer to drink Bud Light when mowing the lawn rather than a delightful, crisp craft pilsner?? Kolshes, Belgian wits, hefeweissens, and any of the huge variety of light summer craft wheats are also far better choices for serious beer drinkers.

If you really like AALs, just admit it without using the lame " Lawnmower Beer" excuse to try to justify your beer choice.

I would also add, while I'm not sure or not if I am a "serious" beer drinker or not..... sometime I just want little water with some beer flavor...hence bud light....sure I could take 3/4 of a Spaten Pils and mix it with water and have something better but sometimes the simpler option is better.....low ABV....nice little beer flavor....can drink it in a minute and move on to what else I have to do for the day. I know a hefe is not much more in ABV but with a beer like that I want to savor it a little. I also know I could just drink a water but I like that little beer flavor from a Bud light in some situations..

Perhaps my expectations were too high; it wasn't really a high priced beer by any means. I also suppose my case could have been old. I haven't had many of this style but it was tad to thick for my tasted and had a mild sweet/caramel note that didn't sit well with me. I like the one by Great Lakes more.
