I am thoroughly enjoying some cans from 6/25.

Bought a 4 pack and have had 2. 6/25 I think, from the brewery. They taste fantastic. Glad I took the chance after a while of only getting it on draft.

7/28 batch bought from Trader Joe's at Mallard Creek is off. Not sure if it is the room temp storage. 2nd time I've been burned. Glad I only bought on 4 pack.

I would suggest only drinking it on draft at this point. I haven't had a good can in a while. Not sure what the hell is happening during the packaging process, but the canned version is a completely different beer lately. I hope their new canning line will resolve these issues.

I was told that it was fermentation incompletion. I believe that they may have been rushing things at one point. Anyway, with all of the really cool beers everywhere, I really don't care about HD'nR. They've had their run.

Birdsong Jalapeno pale is damn good!

Coco Loco hasn't lost that loving feeling...yet.

That doesn't really make sense to me unless the draft version is fermented separately from the canned batches. I assume they all come from the same place, but you never know. The draft has stayed spot on and I drink it often. Cans have been weird for a while.

I was told that by a source that would know. I didn't try draft versus can versions, but I do know that they were sensitive to criticism and made changes.

The 8/10 batch is good, but not as good as I remember the last batch I had being. It doesn't have quite as much bite.

I hate to beat a dead horse, and I hate to talk negative towards any beer or brewery, but YES this beer is not even a shadow of it's former self. I have not had this beer in months, after drinking it through its initial draft offering and cans up to and after the Gold Medal win. I bought a 4 pack last weekend while visiting Charlotte and was disappointed.

This beer is not a batch by batch hit or miss anymore, it's a fundamental change in the beer. Unfortunate, but understandable, anyone who has been drinking this beer longer than 2 years knows that for a fact.

    Cheers!

Had a can with a date of 12/10/15 last night. Was decent but it's just obvious they're having trouble dialing in the recipe to where it used to be. This time, the bitterness lingered too long, the aroma was ok but definitely didn't pop like it should and there was a soily undertone that was kind of pleasant but not present in the original cans I remember being so great a year and a half ago. Hopefully they can keep tweaking the recipe and experimenting until it becomes something as good or maybe even better than it used to be but, until they accomplish that, I won't be spending any money on Hop Drop when there are great and reliable IPAs like Jade, Scythe and Pernicious on the market.

I have some from that batch as well, drank the first at only a day old, so probably the freshest IPA I have ever had. I have tasted better batches before, but there always seems to be some variation each time I get some (which is every few months). I am not a fan of Scythe, but yeah, def a couple of notches below Jade and Pernicious right now.

I thought it was decent too. I'd pick Scythe over it any day though. Hopefully they'll get it back to what it once was.

I had a four pack dated 11/28 that was excellent. But the 12/8 four pack I have now is the worst I've ever had. Straight up bitter.

We been discussing this for over a year on this forum, so what is the problem with the beer not being more consistent or overall better? I have purchased cans recently and have had the beer on draft at the new taphouse within the past 30 days. I desperately want to love this beer, and the 16 ounce canned packaging, but I just haven't enjoyed it recently. The issues seems to be with this beer specifically, as I believe all their others have remained on-point.

My biggest assumption is the decline has been a result of the transition of being a tap-room only joint to distribution, expanding, and greater demand. I can respect that.

Their new tap-room/brewery is freaking awesome by the way. LOTS of space, good variety of beers on tap. A really good space for socializing and beer drinking. Their Woody&Wilox IPA has always been one of my personal favorites.

Not true. HDnR is just the only one that gets talked about here.

I haven't had a REALLY bad HDnR in a few months. There was a period about a year ago where they had major diacetyl issues, then there was a period a few months ago where it pretty consistently tasted like wet cardboard and it seemed like the cans disappeared for a while. The last few times I've had it, it's been drinkable but definitely inconsistent.
