    Happy Saturday, BA's! Another gorgeous late summer day in store....Friday was about as perfect a weather day as you could want....low humidity, sunny skies and temps in the upper 70's with nice northerly breeze....perfect!!

    Went for a 3+ mile hike at a local park, then some sailing, and stopped at a local orchard for some early fresh apples and produce....wonderful day!

    Hey ho everybody . I thought I would check out Beck's after the thread that talked about them. I prefer the German style pilsner. I like that it is not as soft as the Czech examples I have had.

    Pale yellow and clear with a flourish of bubbles that did not last and then the beer went quiet. A short white head that fell fast.

    You know how Boddingtons reminds you of shaving foam? Just sayin'. Thin greasy head that fell fast.

    Nose is not really breaddy. There is some sweetness from pils malt though but the hops dominate the nose. A good pils smells like bread this one more like soft cereal. The hops are very herbal. grass, wet hay. The malt is in the backseat on this nose. That is my complaint to style. The flavor is soft and thin feeling malt. Dry and bitter from hops. Hops dominate the flavor and again that is my complaint to style. Finishes with a touch of unplanned sweetness overall.

    Would I drink it again. Yes. It is clean. No fruity esters, no dms,no diacetyl. Crisp and swift on the palate. The bitterness this beer shows is not out of style. I think the malt is thin. The hops are Hallertau I think.

    Not a big fan of stouts but this was good.. I like my coffee strong and black. But work says no alcohol
