Not just you. I've tried GL's Oktoberfest every year and it has always been a miss for me. I just stopped trying, as I don't like their version.

It is one of the few GL beers I won't drink. The others are High Striker, Lawn Seat Kolsch, Nosferatu (flay me if you must), and Spacewalker. That is a pretty low number out of all their brews...

For you Cbus kids, GE Market District just received mucho cases of Listermann's Nut Smash and Chickow (45 total I think). Both in 4 pks. Also, about 10 cases or so of Musk of the Minotaur. Along with a new Brooklyn Brewery 750ml Intensified Coffee Porter (Barrel aged)

Please, please, please! Tell me they are going to use a picture of St. Peter as a rabbit (from south park) as the bottle art.

I went to dinner at the North Olmstead location last Wednesday and saw it was on tap. To go to dinner with the family and have access to a beer of this quality makes me question why I would ever go through the trouble of trading again. Next time I'm looking to trade for good beer I'll just go to Fatheads and save a bunch of money and time!

    New breweries to Ohio:

Scenic Brewing Company in North Canton opened up recently. I have no further information, so I'm just spreading the info along.

Royal Docks Brewing Company in Canton opens on September 5th. Looks pretty promising. Brewery looks great on the outside. I think it'll be a hit for the area, but only time will tell. They will have an IPA, coffee porter, porter, farmhouse ale and kolsch on Sep 5th.

I thought I would mention Canton Brewing Company too even though they have been open for awhile. I think they have been doing great! Always new formulations of their IIPA being released which is super tasty. Very tasty JD barrel aged wee heavy that I call "Wulver lite." Overall everything is pretty good. They recently changed their coffee in the coffee porter and it is delicious!!! The food is great too. Sometimes I get tired of the typical bar food, so it's nice when a brewery has a great kitchen putting out nicer options.

Considering I don't care for spicy stouts, I really enjoyed Neptune. It was the perfect amount for me where I enjoyed the complexity but it didn't overdo it.

    New to OH (I think):

    Three Floyds Calumet Queen

I felt like a total sucker dropping $9 on a Kolsh but I have a bottle collection consisting of my favorite label artwork and couldn't pass this one up.

They self-distribute. They don't get much to distribute since they do sell a lot at their canning parties but they purposely seem to hold back beer to get out and spread the love!

Missed the first Wolf Ridge release, but will be in town for this one. How did the first one go? Was the line crazy? Any recommendations on when to show up?

First one was awesome, but did have a little confusion. Originally listed as two bottles (per variant) per person, but when we showed up they changed it to one per person (per variant). This meant that people who showed up at 1100 had no problem grabbing a number and getting some beers. It sounds like they have already said one bottle per person this time, so I'm guessing you will not have to get there before 1000 to get your allocation. Snack food was good, live music was good. I'll definitely be back for this one.

It was announced a couple days out that the limit was changed. Hopefully that won't happen again but I've been to plenty of releases where limits were amended. It depends on how many people show (or are likely to show) by open. We'd much rather double the number of people who go home happy than turn many away. The goal is to increase bottle counts on average every release though to combat this. This isn't official yet but likely to start with a limit of 2 Dire bottles and 3-4 Daybreak a person this time.
