Yea if a knew how to brew that is where I would put one. I can run a restaurant but don't know the first thing of a brewery.

But seriously I have had HF IPAs 100 times if not more and Tree House around 30-40 times and I love both but I am leaning towards Tree House recently more and more. Everyone has their own tastes, but classifying three of the best Tree House beers as mundane just makes me a little suspicious of those cans. Then again I have had 2 different batches of Todd the Axeman and did not feel it was in the same league, but clearly a lot of people are loving it.

No one should be allowed to say beers that a lot of people love, aren't good. It's not how beer works. You can only love things that everyone else loves and hate things that everyone else hates. No exceptions

Remember the shitstorm when I said that I'd put Lunch on the same level as the most mediocre local IPA?

And you may deserve the same now . I would say that anyone who says "meh" to well constructed IPA s is either doing it to be an uber beer snob or suffers from a genetic palate disorder. I know we all are allowed to have opinions, but sometimes it might not always be the beers fault.

I second what @PSU_Mike is saying. The IPA's we had from Tree House were just ok. Not a whole ton of dynamic beyond the strong citrus aroma. They weren't bad by any means but great, not really close.

I'd drink a Lagunitas Sucks over all the ones I had

Ha, yes, I see your point. Was it the hops they used? The malt base? The dry hopping? One noted? I personally liked those beers, but I think talking down on those beers at least warrants an explanation.

Lunch - Well made, attractive looking beer. Nice head, good retention. Very nice body for an IPA...middle of the road, full without being too heavy, smooth finish, light bitterness. That's the good. Devoid of any respectable hop presence in the nose or on the tongue. Malt base overpowered the hops. More APA than IPA.

I bought 5 bottles at Caliente a few weeks ago. I gave it 2 chances before I said fuck it and gave them to people in this thread (@Brown120, @Grodd87, and @barflybastard). I can't speak on whether these bottles were treated properly before getting to Caliente. If their experiences align with mine, does it mean they are bad bottles? Possibly. I would give it another shot but I'm not going out of my way to do so.

The Tree House cans I received were from a novice trader as he admitted to me. Again, I don't know if he mistreated them. He offered Tree House again if I was interested which I do plan on taking him up on eventually. I didn't think they were bad. But they were no where near their ratings here. I gave them all around 4's. But I expected much better given their acclaim.

Agree on every point u made on it. Tasted like dfh 90 almost such a malty ipa. I like malty ipas so I enjoyed it but don't think it is world class.

I was more wondering about your thoughts on Treehouse, I know lunch is overhyped and was just busting you on how much you bought of it back then. If the IPAs were heat abused or old then I can understand your dislike for sure. No one likes old, abused IPA s.

[QUOTE/"troygreer, post: 4013747, member: 61194"]Yeah we did. Had some great bottles.

Hopefully we can have another one soon (before @PSU_Mike heads out to Cranberry)[/QUOTE]
    On a Friday
This is bound to happen, no? You get like 15 new breweries opening in 2 years, some are going to improve drastically and rise to the top, and others are going to fall by the wayside. I'd be concerned if none of the breweries were improving and/or standing out, but I definitely don't think that's the case. Plus there are plenty more still opening. It's only fair to give the new ones some time to iron out the kinks just before completely writing them off too.

Oh, and I'd like to request the next of your tastings to be on a Friday, please.

So it's okay that Lunch is over hyped but not Treehouse?

Personally I think the offerings from Tree House I have tried deserve the praise. I have enjoyed drinking fresh lunch, but I would never run out and buy multiples of it.

I have to agree with @PSU_Mike regarding lunch. I've had it 4 day old, and can say that its not much better than 2 week old. Hype aside, it's just run of the mill. I dont understand why people go full primate for it. Another One is superior in my pallet.
