New to Ohio (2015)

Is BB Champion Ground going into distro? If so, any idea when?

My apologies if this has already been discussed.

 

It's not, per the brewer, over in the Jackie O's forum. They still have bottles (80 cases) at the taproom though.

 

Does anyone know if Columbus Brewing Company is doing the Super Fresh HOP this year? Haven't seen it anywhere but if they did, I dont want to miss it.

MadTree is releasing Galaxy High cans at the brewery on September 10th. Starts at noon.

 

Yes. I was told picking fresh Mosaic hops from Yakima in the next 2-4 weeks?! The. Give it a few weeks after that for it to be brewed and kegged. Last year it was around Cleveland Beer Week. So maybe sometime around then. It was my favorite from them last year!

We're talking about two different beers. But yes, we're doing both.

"Ohio Fresh Hop"- more of a Scarlet IPA brewed with Ohio grown Nugget hops (just brewed yesterday)

"Yakima Fresh Hop"- straight up fresh hop IPA. We're waiting for mosaic to be harvested, hops will be overnighted to the brewery, and we'll get that in immediately thereafter. Different hops have different harvest windows. Mosaic is usually a touch later than others.

We still have our Ales for ALS brew to get in also...excited for that as well. Prob won't see that until late Oct/early Nov.

Random, but is there any word if Ohio will receive Ballast Point's Pumpkin Ale or Oktoberfest?

 

They continue to be hit or miss for me (especially at the price point), but I would like to try those


Side note: Drinking my first Roller Blabe. Excellent. For anyone who hasnt tried Heady, I would just track this one down. Very similar

 

Overall I like Ballast Point, although I hated Habanero Sculpin, but it's perfect if you're looking for a habanero IPA. Wasn't crazy about Dorado and their Imperial Red, but liked just about everything else I've had from them.. interested in how they'd do a pumpkin and Oktoberfest..

Random, but drinking a ReDANKulous at the moment.. It's solid, but has a weird aftertaste imo..

 

Anyone know if this will hit distribution in Ohio again this year? Really enjoyed this and the Citra High.

 

I have to imagine so, everything they have produced thus far has found its way into distribution.

 

100% speculation, but I would think it would. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone, but I think every bottle and can release they have done has been distributed. The distance and amount of distribution is much more cloudy.

 

Has anyone tried the new Actual Photon cans?

 

I already wanted to try this & you're not helping!! Haven't tried Musk yet but South of Eleven was nice.

 

Roller Blabe was phenomenal. Like Heady and Julius had a slightly not as good but still really good baby.

 

If you don't mind me asking, did you get your cans around Cincy or make a trek up north? I was going to hit Cappys for Musk but it was gone in like a day.
