Honestly, I think it's fairly easy to find in San Diego, provided you drop by on a shipment day (generally Friday). Ocean Beach is like a Pliny wonderland if you know where/when to look.

That sounds a whole lot like what the OP was complaining about...

There was a PIG sighting at Beachwood SB earlier this week. It's flown off over the Long Beach flight path by now. Pigs in the air. Pigs are everywhere.

If you can't beat em, join em...just another way he CAN get Pliny in the pennisula that I wanted to share dude. You don't have to go to K&L to reserve Pliny. You can just refresh the webpage, get the Pliny, and pick it up later. I have no issues reserving it, and it usually stays on the page for 30-45 min after posting. I don't even put orders in anymore because there are a ton of other good DIPAs I'd rather be drinking.

I gave up on Russian River entirely a year or two ago. They aren't doing anything new. I've had just about everything at the pub so I don't feel inclined to go anymore.

That said, I've never had Beatification so I'll probably make the trek out to get some and probably grab some Consecration, PtE amd BP while I'm there just because I haven't had them in a few years

Pliny has been fairly easy to get a couple times a month in LA if you go on the right days. The whole foods in the West LA area, wally's, Vendome you can get 6 or so in a day if you make the rounds. But I'd only do that for trade, which I'm trying to cut back on. I much prefer blind pig now, and I'd like to try their winemakers session ale.

    Exactly.
2015- I personally just go to Santa Rosa 1-3 times a year and max out on Pliny and BP and that is my share of this beer for the year. Last time I went there it was an extra disappointment because of the line outside to get to the store part of the pub to just buy bottles, but it was about 15 minutes. Other option is having it on tap, but with the amount of beer I buy from other releases I rarely go to pubs these days.

I don't get the Blind Pig love either, talk about a seriously mediocre IPA.

I don't even buy Pliny every time I see it. maybe 1 out of every 5 or 6 times. Just not that great. I honestly believe that while it is a great beer, it has just as many high quality competitors that I would rather support at this point. I would much rather buy anything from El Segundo than a Pliny. Mainly because it is a local option at a similar price point that is still pretty much the same quality as Pliny and secondly because ESBC is AMAZING when it comes to freshness, half the time bottled the same day it shows up in stores. Not to mention supporting local options only help make even more high quality beers exist, or that I don't have to go on a hunt every time I want to drink it.

Pliny and Blind Pig both are excellent. Most of us here are spoiled with great IPAs. It really beats any other similar style beer out there. With so many quality options to choose from, we really don't need to go out of our way to find it. I buy it when I see it, I won't go racing to a store for it.

I schedule business in SF so i can hit Mikeller bar, RR for lunch and a beer run, and Napa for the weekend. Sometimes I drive, sometimes I fly, but its good to mix business with beer.

I see it on tap a fair amount, but bottles are tough to come by in the Sactown burbs. As many have already said, I just don't get the hype. It's a very good DIPA, but not anything you couldn't walk into any decent specialty grocery store and find something just as good as on the shelf at any given time. I can buy Ruination 2.0 at the gas station and I honestly prefer it to Pliny.

Dayum! This is exactly where i went. Haha.

K/L is one of my favorite stores. With their online system, I was able to get a few beers that I wasn't sure would last. Even got to pick up a special bottle that they did, with Modern Times' Monsters Park aged in a single 12 year Elijah Craig.

But the Pliny process.....ugh. As I mentioned, it used to be easy at San Jose whole foods. I mean, really no trouble at all. I'm not even gonzo about Pliny as I said, I was just trying to pick up a few for a trade. They said it would be online between 3 and 4, and I was refreshing my screen for the entire first 45 minutes. Missed 5 of the last 15 and I was SOL. I'm just not going to bother with PtE at all unless I'm down in the South Bay.
