The one at pipers for PCBW was listed as brandy barrel aged barleywine, so either this is a new treatment, or Helltown doesn't know the difference between brandy and sherry.

i have also enjoyed my time spent at pizza boy and that doesn't change that for me. however, i don't think anyone can deny that this was probably not the best way to handle the situation...

i think it is also worth noting how many 'punkin' beers show up in a quick search and why dfh chose to go after pb, especially when pb barely distributes (if at all?). i wouldn't be surprised if dfh has sent this same thing out to those other breweries and is simply bluffing in order to avoid bad press with a lawsuit.

PB and DFH are only like 2 hours apart. Proximity is the factor here imo.

The only thing we know for sure is that PB got one. It could be that the other breweries had enough forethought to not take to social media, or it could be that they didn't get the same letter. Either way, Al was a shithead with how he handled it. That is for sure.

    Meh. I kinda like Al's "I seriously don't give a fuck" attitude. I like it a lot.

Yeah it was not good. Probably the only beer I have had from them that was a chore to drink. I like the fruity chili pepper flavor in beers like that, but the heat was way too much to be enjoyable. Founders did a Barrel Aged beer called Spite. I believe they did a few different variants with different types of peppers, I had the poblano one and thought it was fantastic. Troy maybe you've had it? It literally tasted like a plate of Mexican food, Chile Rellanos to be exact. I hope to have it again while I am up there sometime.

Yes I had regular spite and the "Pepper blend" spite. My notes from the Pepper blend "Not hot, this is how a chili beer is done!"

I vaguely remember having it and thinking "wow a balanced chili beer"

They've done treatments of both. The brandy one was months back. The sherry one was just released at the beginning of this month.

If I could only pick one, do I hit up Penn Brewing Oktoberfest or Hofbräuhaus Oktoberfest? Or should I skip em both and hit up a few breweries? I'll only have time next Saturday and Sunday evening.

Penn Brewing over Hofbrauhaus but other local breweries over both.

Countdown to the anniversary party begins! On September 12th from 5 PM - 12 AM we will be celebrating our two year anniversary with an "old fashioned" prohibition themed party. The pub will be transformed in to a speakeasy from the roaring 1920's and bottles of our Two Year Anniversary Ale will be for sale all night. This year's anniversary beer is a Bière de Garde aged in Wigle Whiskey Pennsylvania Bourbon barrels with dried cherries, cocoa nibs and cinnamon. Along with our beer and food specials release, Wigle Whiskey will have a whiskey tasting from 6 PM - 8PM. Guests are encouraged to come in 1920's dress and the party is open to everyone!

East End released details on the Big Pour brew -- WEISER PEACH SOUR. First release at the Pour and then TBD taproom release.

    http://www.eastendbrewing.com/news/2015/9/2/this-years-bigpour-brew-will-be

We brewed a nice light rye ale base beer, kettle-soured it for 3-4 days, and ran about 150gal of that wort off into our fermenter for secondary fermentation with our house ale yeast. After fermention finished up, we kicked off a tertiary fermentation by adding 100lbs of fresh peaches to the tank, that we picked up on the way back from our collaboration with PizzaBoy Brewing... Fruit from their favorite fruit source, Weiser Orchards.

I agree. I mean my obvious homer-ness aside. I thought this was the best beer they made in a while, besides the Imperial Breakfast Stout that was on firkin a few weeks back, I think I've gone through 2 1/2 growlers of it at home and I never usually bring growlers home to drink alone.

They aren't bluffing, it's to my understanding to protect your trademark you need documentation that you pursued the people infringing on it. Like they say if you don't use it you lose it. I think that's about trademark law
