I would go with safer, more mild beers. All Day IPA and RecreationAle are good starting points. They are hoppy but not quite typical IPA hoppy. I think Sculpin is fruit-forward but way overpriced. I'd avoid most of the old school IPAs like Hop Devil, 60 Minute, Perpetual, etc. Head Hunter is way too manly for you. Stone's IPAs are going to be too bitter. Torpedo is pretty piney/bitter. Lagunitas IPA may fit the bill but I'd be leery if you didn't like Sucks. For locals, Roundabout and BG are both fruity and low on the bitterness scale. They would work well.

EDIT: Fresh Sqeezed...that's it. Big malt presence with fruit-forward hops. That's a good bet.

I wish, still in the hunt for the right brewer. Interviewed one last weekend and another this upcoming weekend.

Appreciate the advice. I'm thinking of picking up some Sculpin, not too worried about the price. A buddy that I'll be with loves the IPAs so if I don't like what I get he'll take it off my hands. I think Shadyside GE still has Sculpin in cans but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I second the Sculpin pick. Yes, it is expensive but damn is it fruity delicious. May want to try Grapefruit Sculpin as well.

I know GE Waterworks had it on draft last weekend and might still if you want a growler. It comes to $14.99 during happy hour.

Well sure...I guess I was wondering what your goals and vision are for a head brewer...

Would love to...too bad you weren't around when I lived in your neck of the woods. I've probably spent more money at D's than any other local beer establishment. And I regretted every penny I forked over...:slight_frown:

D's sucks up far too much of my money as well. Last night, I actually controlled myself.

Weird side note to the "event": all the beers were on tap well before 7pm and were pouring well before 7. What is the point of having an event from 7-9 if you don't stick to that time frame? I showed up at 6:15ish and started enjoying.

I am sure this is yawn city but at the Big Pour we are pouring our Berliner, Vermont IPA, and Saison. Stop by and say Hi, I will be the dude with the hipster man bun and pubic hair-like beard.
